Many thanks for pointing that out what a fabulous piece of machinery......having had the opportunity to fly Concorde to the USA some years ago the sound of those Olympus engines brought back some fond memories............

More than stunning, verging on the spooky and if you did not know of the existance of the Vulcan, an extra terristrial sighting.

But Concorde had reheat and that's what made takeoff and accelerating to supersonic speeds so exciting. :)

I think there is a difference between airworthy on paper and actually airworthy - understandably, from a safety perspective.

Only like a loco that does not have a main line ticket but can still be on heritage lines.

Or a loco without a boiler cert that could be steamed up.

Just saw XH558 over Southampton waters as it was moving from Bournemouth to Shoreham. The weather was appalling, and I somehow managed to see it through the mist. I have attached a photograph, with an edited version to the left.

Considering I haven't seen XH558 in years, I have seen it twice in a week, having seen it up at Didcot last Sunday.

She flies over Alresford quite regularly, last year I was just walking back to my car after a spot of railway photing on the Mid Hants and she flew right in front of me at about 250 feet. Unfortunately I had just put my camera away! Flew over my house twice last Sunday but only caught her the first tome, and then just a back view.

Was packing up our club stand at a Mini/MINI show in Worthing today, and was greeted with this view overhead, as well as the view of her banking into Shoreham.

So glad I've managed to get a glimpse of her, will definitely make the effort to see her again!

Indeed. Most people are very poor judges of height, especially where aircraft are concerned.
