......and before anyone accuses me of thread drift, the N7s operating on ‘The Jazz Line’ went like the wind.......

While we're still discussing liveries on the wrong thread:;)
That particular shade might be OTT, but I personally see nothing wrong aesthetically with some shade of maroon on a rebuilt Bulleid. The overall shape of the loco isn't so different from a Duchess. Of course they are different, but over the whole range of loco shapes they're not that far apart (Pacific, wide Belpaire firebox, boiler close to the top of the loading gauge so very short chimney, smoke deflectors), so why should maroon look fine on one and unacceptable on the other, apart from the obvious aspect of authenticity?

It’s fair comment, and Taw Valley didn’t look too bad in that condition - just wrong given its history.

That was just a bit of fun. It’s just plain wrong and Clan Line will always be presented in the correct livery

So is the locomotive in 100% exact BR condition, or have there been additions and modifications since, in which case there is no correct livery.

Thread drift happens sometimes...but when it goes on and on, it detracts from the main subject matter. All this livery wibble is interesting, but maybe it should go elsewhere now?

So what obvious visible modification do you see on Clan Line. I mean one that hits you in the eye.

You are right and just think how great Tornado will look in dark green with a set of maroon mk1s heading to Aberdeen. As near as you can get to an ECML express in the 50/60s

I tend to do daft things like that though. I think the most extreme was leaving home in Buckinghamshire at 04.30 chasing Blue Peter from Kilmarnock via the Forth Bridge to Perth. The, ‘what the hell are you doing’ moment came eating haggis and chips outside Perth Station at 7 o’clock, realising that I was nearer Inverness than Carlisle and I still had to get home. Made by 12.30 after a travelling at somewhat over the statutory speed limit. Empty motorways and no speed cameras back in 92.

My "Best" was Sheffield to Bo'ness and back in a day - by public transport! The worst bit was realising the night before that the bus that went between my flat and the station in Sheffield didn't actually start running until after my train had left, so I had to get up even earlier to walk the 2 miles to the station. Some people still hadn't finished their nights out!

Even if it has then there will be difficulty getting stock to and from Bo'ness with the problems at Polmont. Almost certainly means the Queen of Scots tour will terminate at Edinburgh if the line is (sadly as expected) still closed on 12 September. Don't know if someone else (WCRC) will instead provide stock for the Aberdonian on 10 September if it happens.

If Blue Peter, Tornado and Flying Scotsman are still in Br Green beyond 2022/23 wouldn't it be nice to complete the set and have either No.7 or N0.19 in Br Green as well so we have an A1, A2, A3 & A4 all in operation on the mainline in the same livery.

Even more of a difficulty is provided by the washout that occurred on the B&KR as a result of the same storm. It may be a while before the SRPS set is able to get back into the main line
The Emergency Appeal is progressing well but there is still further to go.
