Reading the current Railway Magazine, I think GBRf are looking for extra motive power and some suggestion was made about the 60s languishing at Toton - but I suspect 66s would be a better fit.

Well there are loads of rumours of 20 class 60s being bought up to be repaired for GBRF, as for these sheds there are a few that have been stored for more than a year so load knows what their condition is, and remember some of them will be approx 20 years old now

The fact that 66's are now being sold second hand as surplus to requirements makes me feel very old.

You think that's bad? I'm hoping to visit the NVR's 60th anniversary celebrations for the Class 31.

Equally I feel old by seeing Eurostars going for scrap, and I remember the 56 being introduced (the first one I saw was 56 035, followed by 56 029), as I do the HST... but 66s reflect really the modern, privately run railway IMO.

Only last night I was thinking of Toton open day in 1998 66001, 3, 4 and 5 being proudly shown off alongside D6700/37350. I think we all know which one was value for money.

Could be worse... what if you remembered them as five digits starting 1xxxx (diesel) or 2xxxx (electric)?!

Ask Irish Rail. 201s are broadly Class 66 with ETH, but it only worked in Throttle 8. Hence scaring the pidgeons in stations and major engine issues after a few years.
