Just thought i'd start a thread on this.

RYTC advertising a £10 discount on last minute bookings, seems a few seats left. (Sure you know where to call).
    No stop at Watford Junction

Train now being hauled by 60009 instead of 70013, 70013 now unavailable.

Booked on this and received emailed tickets last week which said Ollie Cromwell which we were looking forward to after last weekend's fine showing. Still 60009 should put up a good show. roll on Saturday.

Looking forward to the trip to Chester. Shame about Cromwell being withdrawn, hopefully some good running up the West Coast Main Line with 'No. 9', and lets hope, no diesel tagging on. 60009 is quiet enough as it is.

Got seats 20F-21F in the Buffet.

If it is No9 doing the honours is she still at Crewe - in which case we should get a LE move sometime this week.

I think it's also a way of building into the modelling some flexibility in the path itself for recovery especially when there is lot of hill climbing included.

    Interesting same day:

Euston-Chester-Euston £79 (with discount £69) has seats available

departs 07.41 returns 22.40 - steam hauled throughout

    Euston-Holyhead-Euston £115...

departs 06.37 returns 23.14 steam hauled Crewe-Holyhead-Crewe (Diesel to / from Euston which is also becoming a bit of rarity these days)

I know which one looks the better one to me, and a whopping £46 cheaper, i'm surprised it hadn't sold more considering ?

And if it is diesel rather than an electric to get you up there and back then that's not smart either on the SD trip. An electric can get to Crewe in two and half hours (witness the CME) but a diesel will be 3+ hours. On a long day you need all the help you can get.

London - Chester has been done many times over the last 4 - 5 years. The pathing has got worst and it takes about an hour longer each way.Last year Rileys Five managed to keep to time for all except the last part of the trip, a path that was based on a 75mph loco. They subsituted less than a week before the trip.

London - Holyhead was done last year, but I am no sure when it was last done before( I do not remember one).If you wanted to go to Holyead it was a trip that started from Crewe and required either 1 or 2 nights hotel accomodation.

More to the point, will you get back to Crewe on Saturday?

Been told No. 9 moves down to Southall tomorrow along with the 5Z42 ECS move from Carnforth to Southall - attaching at Crewe. Also been tipped off that Union wasn't in steam at the Heritage Centre today. Sort of worried...

Unless your on a daft schedule, the southern WCML is flat enough for the most part to not need it powering.

2 late arriving Lichfield. Just taking water.
Left on time, with a very slow start including a couple of slips. No box on the back.
