Having had a good look at the tender on sunday, they have cut the bottom 3/4 of both sides of the tank away, I believe because additional strengthening is required and the option to remove the sides was chosen as working in the tank with only a tiny access point would be horrific to say the least!!

can you post some pics if they do get towed to Alresford in one move i expect though the low loader movement will be over several days, most likely 31806 first , then 31874 then 31625 last as thats going into store. its a pity that 31806 isnt going by rail in light steam that would have been a sight

I think you'll find according to a report i read, that 31874 and 31625 are both going to a private site first to be stripped down. Presumably to give up components to enable 31874 to return to traffic.

31874's chassis will then move to Herston works in September.

The rumour mill this week suggests 31625 and 31874 may have already moved. Can anyone from the MHR clarify this? They were still at Ropley last Sunday.

Still at Ropley the day before yesterday, the 37 made a LE movement from Alresford to Ropley on that day and was sitting in the headshunt but during my visit made no signs of taking them to Alresford that day.

It would appear that the Mid Hants have been busy preparing 92212 for the forthcoming Thomas week.
Tom, your prayers have been answered :)

I'm usually pretty open to these more unusual, inauthentic liveries but...

The one thing this thread has singularly failed to report recently is any news of progress on the Mid Hants. It would be nice to learn what is happening with the various ongoing overhauls.

Quick run down on what's happening at Ropley for you.

76017 is still in the wheel drop and is being put together again. The tender I think is complete apart from painting.
41312 the boiler is still in the boiler shop and the loco is still in Ropley head shunt.
34105 the frames have been stripped down and the back part of the frames have been renewed. The tender is now been worked on.(photos on MHR web site)
30506 is waiting the front part of the frames to be cut.
30499 is in the early stages of restoration
75079 is under going restoration. Lots of parts have been removed and overhauled and painted. Still awaiting the boiler to be removed. Cladding is being made. Cylinder covers are overhauled, new cylinder cladding has been made, cross heads have been overhauled, front truck is being overhauled. Tender frames stretchers and drag box have been built and painted, tender wheels have been put together and painted. The list goes on
34051 is being put together and the tender has been repainted but awaiting lining out.
    80150 still awaiting overhaul.

41312's frames and tanks look a bit forlorn, do you know the eta for the Ivatt to run again? At one time the plan was January 2015 to run the winter services...
