For the less than eagle eyed ferro-equinologists amongst us, you may not have noticed York is going to be a busy place on Saturday 14 June with three large kettles visiting the place:
    46233 Derby - Scarboro' & return
    60009 Southend - York & return
    60019 Kings+ - York & return
Railway Mag is quoting 60163 for the last train, but the A1st site doesn't list this trip in their line up of fixtures.
Looks like the bridge at Colton will be well attended, see you there!

I see 60009 is only running Ely to York outward on the Steam Dreams trip. Has this always been the case or have things changed? I thought I'd read it would be departing York in the evening as well. Not much steam mileage for your £99 in standard class!

It previously stated that it would either be Steam

Southend - York one way, or

    Peterborough - York both ways.

Steam Dreams seem to offer the poorest value for money of all the Main Line tour promoters at present. Far more steam miles per ££££ with RTC or VT and they both also seem rather better at delivering what was promised than SD also.

They seem to have a lot of passengers who prefer the convenience of a local pick up, rather than coming into Central London or drive more than an hour to an outside London pick up point. With the journey times getting longer, these trips with multiply pick ups, that either start in the suburbs or outside London, and sometimes cross London are becoming very long days and seem more difficult to predict how long a steam section is possible. Those who are prepared to travel into central London or drive to a pick up point near the M25, for a trip which starts from a London terminal will get better value for money steam wise. I generally only go on the later type of trips.
