And so will 5972 Olton Hall, according to the latest newsletter from Tyseley. They're claiming 7 locos in steam, in all.

Just a general query are the loco's lined up in positions so you can photograph without too many people getting in the way or is it a bit of a mad rush of people?

If its like previous years, it will be hard to get photographs without people. The size of the site makes it difficult for it to be otherwise. The exception being the year the next door depot was also open, but even then things were cramped.

Yes Tyseley is a tricky place to photograph. The only shot of any distance I got last open day was when it was tipping it down with rain, and thus everyone retreated inside.

Thanks for the responses I imagined that would be the case, but still sounds as though its a good event!

At least you got in. I arrived at the car park gate fairly early in the morning to be told "sorry, mate, we're full", and the answer to "is there anywhere else I can park" was "don't know, sorry". So I drove around the area, and decided that my chances of finding my car where I left it after a couple of hours was pretty well nil, so I went home again.

    All,

    Loco's planned in steam are:
    6233
    5043
    4965
    7752
    9600
    Peckett #1
..and 5972 Olton Hall aka Hogwarts Castle. As far as I know, it appears at our Open Weekend, then hauls a RTC Charter the following weekend, before disapearing to Warner Brothers...so if you want to see it in steam in the Midlands one last time I suggest you pop down to Tyseley.

The Patriot "Unknown Warrior" will still be here and on display in addition to Clun and Lizzie.

Yes we have limited car-parking..although we can squeeze a few hundred cars in.

Also both Chiltern and London Midland are stopping additionnal trains at Tyseley all weekend, so if you want to jump off at Tyseley Station, it is an easy walk downhill to the yard (the walk back to the station up the hill is good excercise!).

Lastly the #37 bus runs past our front door.

    Cheers!

    Ben

We do but they can get filled up. Let me know what day and (roughly) the time of arrival and I will notify our gate/parking folks to ensure there is a space available.

    Regards

    Ben

Usually at these open days, the shuttle gets rotated between all the in steam loco's throughout the day except the Peckett.
