The kesr website really doesn't want us to attend the gala does it? I'm heading for the IOW gala instead: two Terriers and an 02. Railways which keep gala loco rosters a secret don't get my dosh!

As far as I know the KESR Gala timetable is not yet finalised.

I really like the kesr. Truly unique, but with less than a week to go, there's no list of locos for the gala, (beyond the upside down one) on the website as far as I can see.
I doubt I'm the only potential punter who has to book time off to attend a bh weekend gala. Just tell us what will be running! Too late for me this time though.

Talking of the KESR, here is some footage I shot today of their well attended 1940s weekend.

It is such a pity as its the best event all year at K&ESR. I will now go to SDR Friday and make a decision on whether to go to Tenterton over the weekend on information appearing during the week.

Locos that are currently available for traffic are (I was steamraiser today)

    6619
    65
    376
    23
    1638

Knowle is under maintenance, outside but is complete. May be available by next weekend - my guess!
Bodiam is having a new main steam pipe fitted.
Charwelton has its rods off for attention.

This is what the timetable says for this weekend...which would seem strange?

the most worrying thing is out of those 5, no less than 3 are out of ticket at the end of the year, with only 25 due to return to service this year, or early next , that leaves only 2 class 5 locos, so expect to see more class 14 haulage . so if you want to catch 6619 ,1638 and 23, in steam all at the same time, this could be the only chance, i think 23 goes out in september, 1638 and 6619 on dec 31st and as all 3 need 10 year overhauls, its going to be a while before any of them are back, i would wager a bet that 4253 steams before either 6619 or 1638 return to service.

I am pleased to say that the WTT has been finalised and issued to staff today. Not sure when more info will appear on KESR website.

    • Seven engines in service each day.
    • Cavalcade on Saturday only before the service starts (09.30 ish).
    • First train departs TN at 10.00.
    • Ten trains at about 45 minute intervals.
    • Engine changes at Bodiam and Tenterden
    • Gervase makes full round trip at 16.45
    Usual caveats apply.

I believe that the 10:00 from Tenterden is only on Saturday.

There is also a 250 ton Freight up from Wittersham in the morning of course.

And in addition to the 16:45 full round trip (one coach) Gervase is supposed to double head some other locos.

Are there likely to be other freight services around this, as the website says 6 members of the home fleet in steam?

There will be a freight from Wittersham Road (dep 1107) to Tenterden (arr 1129) on Saturday, with a return working 1620/1637. Not sure if it will run on Sunday. On Monday the timings are 1031/1113 and 1620/1637.

Only 3 (or possibly 4 depending on what works the 16.45) locos in service on Sunday.

I'm sure GERVAISE was there when I last looked - has it failed?

What about 23, 65 and 376 - do they have problems as well?

As for Saturday and Monday - still no clues, although if they are having loco problems that may explain it.

Hopefully someone from the railway issues an update . I though the problems were just with the Terriers.

I am planning to visit Saturday and Monday. As long a Terrier ( either one, ideally both) , 1638, and 6619 are operating I will attend.

It was there as the 16:45 was it's own full round trip service. One can only assume it has failed. Which makes it a real shame.
