Nitwork Rail has no facility on the planning system for "steam" - Therefore it defaults to "Diesel" as a service descriptor.

But with that knowledge in hand you can make an educated guess based on the permitted maximum speed - there aren't too many "diesel" locomotives limited to 60 or 70mph. :)

As has been said, RTT does not have steam in it's vocabulary so diesel is used for both steam and diesel, it also has a tonnage that is way above what is actually on the train, but that is to do with the way the computer works out the timings. Steam with 11 on equates approximately to diesel with 715 tonnes in respect of performance, ie, speed, hill climbing, etc.

The video itself will be going live at five.

I do hope they try to attempt double-headed jubilees north and south next time around. The Cumbrian Coast is a wonderful line.

Please excuse the ignorance, but when the Dutchess is standing idle there is obviously something mechanical can be heard working. Pistons or valves, something of the like. I've been wondering this since the MNR Gala last year, what is it that working? Noticed Tornado doing similar at it's Peterborough water stop a couple of weeks ago.

Yep, even when in Vac mode the air pump is thumping away, the way the Duchess braking system is set up.

There will also be the irregular clacking of the automatic drain valves.

Nice footage through Grantham although I pretend it's somewhere North of Euston on the route to Glasgow.

I have to watch it with the sound turned off. You can't have a whistle like that in Grantham, there should be a law against it!
