Just dropped in to check what's going on with this, as Mrs Lock & I have tickets. Disappointed it's not now the Jubilee, as we rode the WCME on 15th Feb with 46115, but that's no reflection on the motive power itself. Also a bit of a shame it's south bound on the coast, as there's a section of 2 to 3 miles through Ulverston that we'll now do in the downhill direction, with gradients that appear to vary between 1 in 76 and 1 in 107. Most significant uphill sections will be maybe a mile of 1 in 94 & 1 in 101 through Askam and then the section referred to by Spamcan81, which is 1 in 94 & 1 in 105 for perhaps a mile and a half (plus?) from Dalton through Lindal Tunnel.

    Hope that helps.

74 at Tebay, 24 at Shap. Not bad for the load and the weather conditions, quite a strong head wind.

The slow speed at Shap summit was the result of 2 slips in the last couple of miles, however once over the summit speed steadily increased and we headed for Penrith at a very brisk pace....

I would ask that any figures are not posted on open forum.

Gordon Hodgson and SG were on fire today. Late start because of a brake problem and then the motivation of a Pendolino up our tail lamp. Massively impressive assault of Shap and down the other side my GPS melted but I can say that we pulled up in Carlisle after 66 or so minutes. Currently recovering by lying down in a darkened room.

Currently waiting time in Carnforth UD Loop. The run around the coast was impressive for an entirely different set of reasons to the run to Carlisle. Lovely scenery plus some noisy bursts from up front. I'm sure that the other trips today were also worth going on but this one gets my vote. Well done to RTC for a well conceived itinerary....and it's happening again soon! As for SG. She is clearly in fine fettle at present so thanks to WCR for tuning her up.

Great stuff Stephen. Good to see you. Was colder today around Shap in spring than any of the winter CME series![IMG]

Thought it might be, but I did not want NP to be involved in and repercussions, and it appears that at the moment the request has been respected.
