34067 back in December 2007 apparently. I remember seeing it pass through Sutton on the outward trip.

Many thanks for that, and yes it's looking more and more like the 19th is going to be the one ! That said, who knows of course. This game is full of surprises as we all know, so who knows so to speak ?

Paul Burns was also the founder of the organisation now building a new "Clan", "Hengist" I believe it's going to be called. He was based at EWS Barton Hill, (as it was called at the time), and responsible for some of the best steam locomotive performances, (along with Geoff Ewens), on the main line in the 90s and noughties. Certainly haven't seen his name linked to any recent tours so maybe he retired or transferred ?

Another one that did the Sheepcote Lane curve was the Armistice Day Special, 11-11-2010 with Tornado.

July 1964. Surrey Wanderer. Covered Shepperton branch, Wimbledon to West Croydon (now the tramway), West Croydon to Epsom Downs via Sutton and Beckenham Junction area plus Caterham. Tattenham Corner. Brilliant itinerary with 30053 and 78038. A good example for a T/T trip with the Tyseley Panniers were they ever to come to London.

Change of subject - just received in today's post notification of postponement of the Cheshireman from Monday 26th May to Sat 20th Sept. Also going back to the original route using the WCML. Means we will use Northampton rather than Kettering which is a shame as Ket is much more convenient. Mind you, final decision will be made by she who must be obeyed!

Cumbrian Coast Express now working to a reverse itinerary, heading over Shap in the morning, and returning via the coast in the afternoon. Will now book the June version.

I didn't know... And to be honest, the 12 April thread will 'disappear' into the ether (or rather the depths of NatPres) in a week or so, but this thread will remain as an easy-to-hand reference that will remain 'current' for the rest of this year.

I see that the first two Royal Dutchy 's have been cancelled guess it may be due to the continuing issues with the turntable if so it doesn't look good for the rest of the season.

Heard rumours that 5029 will now be on day 3 of the GB VII From Bristol - Carnforth, then the 8F will do the Carnforth - Grange leg. Reason being that the Duchess (now at the museum in York) is in the right place to take over from Union of South Africa with the last day, for the York - Kings Cross leg.

On behalf of Locomotive Services Ltd -

To confirm regarding the aforementioned rumour regarding No. 5029, we have not been contacted regarding the 3rd day of GBVII and as such there are currently no plans for No. 5029 Nunney Castle to haul The Great Britain VII north from Bristol Temple Meads on Monday 28th April.

50 years and a day on from the original tour. Very tempted to shut the shop for a day for this one.
