There's no truth is the rumour that 60 mph limited locos can only go at 30 in reverse.

Officially 45mph max in reverse. However, it would be less as it is a heritage line.

Easiest would be to come down the Erewash Valley and turn right at Trent.

Does anyone have an update on how the return to service is progressing? Last time I looked at the K&WVR website, there wasn't any news that hadn't already appeared in the railway press or on this forum?

    Thanks

Have you tried the KWVR's (public) Facebook page? That's where I found pics of her being painted.

After reading the Worth Valley word press article (http://worthnews.wordpress.com/category/34092-city-of-wells-sr-west-country-4-6-2/) on City of Wells the sentence "if mainline running is contemplated" did stick out. Not often you hear a railway spectulate about mainline running unless its been seriously considered. I personally would love to see her on the mainline but thats because I really want to see her and Tangmere double head somewhere ... very unlikely tho.

    Why isn't it ?
I would have thought this was a very likely pairing.

That said we haven't had a Bullied pairing for eon's or a Brit pairing yet and they have both been around on the mainline for years.

The reason I think it would be unlikely is purely done to how long it has been since we last saw one. The only Bulleid double header I can remember is Braunton and Clan Line (if that counts) with there support coaches going to the MHR. Bu then saying that I have only been back in the railway world a coule of years now

Let's not forget that in the last decade, since Bodmin went off mainline there has been a bit of a dearth of Bulleids on the mainline...indeed a diet of 2 for a decade now..
But that's looking like its all about to change ...

Question is what will replace Clan Line on the VSOE next year ? 34046 ? 60163 ? Could the job move to WCRC indeed 35018 could be a contender ?

One thing is sure, it won't just be 34092 on its own and 2017 could turn out a good year for ovb's creations.

Taking it a day at a time, I was just after of when she will be out on the Worth Valley line for testing. Could someone stick their neck out of the woods if there is anything new?

She just poped on facebook "Now varnished and not long before it will be in service again." It was posted by "Live Steam Lining" who I believe are the ones painting here. But she does look glourious in the photo they posted.

Absolutely. it's a 300 mile + round trip to Yorkshire from my neck of the woods, but it will be worth getting up at some crazy hour to travel up to Keighley to see this fine engine back in service. With the KWVR being a fairly short line, locos do sufficient round trips for you to fit in a ride and take some pictures all in a single day.
