... and I suspect my father-in-law (from NZ) will now be kicking himself, having just bought their tickets to come and see us in May. Seeing one flying Lancaster was on our "to do" list for that trip; had he come a couple of months later he could have seen two! <gloom>

WOW,what else can you say, So its actually going to happen :) any chance of the mossie coming along also?.
Whist the Lanc is here, is the runway at Bruntlinthorpe long enough to take a lancaster, or 2? because if it is, it would be a one in a lifetime chance to have all 3 run up on the apron its a pity my own father is no longer with us, he served in Lacasters

East Kirby it is. No Lancs at Bruntingthorpe - well not at the moment.

Runway at East Kirby too short at present for a Lancaster to take off or land. BBMF Lancaster booked for Little Gransden show on 24th August. Fingers crossed for the pair of them!

Sorry Yes, i got my airfields mixed up, East Kirby, god knows how i got that mixed up having seen another post that conferms that the runway is too short, when the East Kirby lanc does get the green light to return to the air, where are they going to base it?

If that happens, we'll need to get there somewhat early.

Blimey, 6 A4's last year and this year and now 2 Lancs. this year. That will bring another tear to the eye to see and hear them flying together with some Spits and Hurricanes!

Only five miles to Coningsby - pure speculation on my part, but I'd have thought the logical thing to do if and when that moment arrives would be to break the lanc down into bits, truck it to Coningsby and base it there.

They have a plan to extend the runway at East Kirby, breaking it down is very much not an option.

Well that's August 18th sorted even if I will be viewing from the ground rather than from the aircraft itself. It is very tempting to blitz the credit card though. :)

Change of plans called for. Will have to be in Lincs for this. Thanks for drawing attention to the event and I trust the flight over is uneventful.

From what I have read elsewhere (Facebook) two Airshows to keep an eye on are the Dawlish Airshow http://dawlishairshow.co.uk/newindex/ and Dunsfold Wings and Wheels http://www.wingsandwheels.net/.
Both sets of organisers are working hard on getting both Lancs to appear at their respective shows along with a Spitfire and Hurricane from the BBMF. There is talk of getting both Lancs flying in formation with the Vulcan at the Dunsfold event. My Father and I are going to the Dunsfold event anyway but it looks like we will have to get there very early to get a good spot!

If you join the Vulcan to the Sky club, then for the past couple of years & thus hopefully this year, the club has a reasonable sized members only enclosure in a really good spot @ W&Ws.
