Advertised on TV and stating "Flying Scotsman is an NRM loco", did someone from NRM actually see this monstrosity before (presumably) giving their blessing?

Just seen a YouTube clip of it. Not even a three cylinder sound track. :)

False advertising surely ?, if someone wants to make some tacky fireplace paperweight, that's their business, but don't bull***t customers.

Appears to have been round since 2010, so dunno why you boys are so worked up now. It wouldn't find a place in my house, but if it brightens someone life then I'm pleased for them. The world is not short of things I find aesthetically undesirable, and it appears to be of the sort of standard of realism and authenticity I'd expect from that sort of thing.

It's not the tat existing that annoys me, more the seller trying to sell it under seemingly false claims.

Maybe they tracked down the bell that Flying Scotsman carried on its US trip?

Do please lighten up. It's unusual and fun although it's not for me or anyone I know, come to think of it.

I do remember the adverts in the beano and in the Sunday supplements, along with the life like china dolls, commemorative Elvis plates, and elasticated waistband trousers. Never met any body who's brought one though.

But if you we're 5 and it was on the mantlepiece at your Grandads house youwould love it and perhaps your romance with steam would begin there and then...
BUT Regardless of its merits or otherwise, it doesnt steam or pull anything, therfore should it be on this thread or perhaps under NRM, General chat or even Models at a push...

Indeed it may be depending on your taste but what I asked is was it approved by the NRM , if anyone knows. Lightening up isn't really relevant is it?

I have never bought one but there was one in the dining room in an hotel in Torbay, along with cuckoo clocks also, it was quite an event some some guests whilst tucking into their full English.

Would love to buy one and give it somebody as a very valuable birthday or Christmas present. I would personally ensure it remained in Pride of place by continuing to visit regularly and enquiring about its welfare. Hmmm - mother out law's birthday fast approaching...

My dad was bought one of these by my gran (His mother in law), we think as a joke present but we're not quite sure, a couple of years back.

We're both of the opinion though that it's possibly one of the most tasteless gifts you've ever seen.

Of note, the static model of the loco on the front is an A3 with double chimney and smoke deflectors, whilst the moving one is an A1 with a single chimney.

I'll try and get a video of it next time I'm home.

I'll include a disclaimer along the lines of "Not for those of a nervous disposition" so the forum won't get sued by potentially enraged enthusiasts!
