    Hi, Railway fans

I was wondering whether anyone has any knowledge into what motive power is going to be hauling this years trains.

Personally i would like the stable of engines to look like this
    46115 Scots Guardsman
    6023 King Edward II
    61306 Mayflower
    35028 Clan Line

A rough guess based on the last few years might include 70000, 70013, 34046, 34067 and 44932. 5029 would be a nice addition though.

As the Torbay Express has always been a DBS job the most likely locos will be 5029, 34046, 60019, 70000 and possibly 60163 given its lack of work elsewhere.

Whilst the first post is a creative wish list most if not all of those are unlikely. 6023 isn't mainline registered yet, has no known date for when (or even if) that might happen, and in any event GWS tend to run their locos on one off occasional tours rather than regular weekly trips. I think their stated intention was around 6 tours per year. 35028 pretty much never does tours other than VSOE. I would imagine 61306 will be heading north to do the Jacobite runs, and as with 46115 its a WCRC loco which makes an appearance on the DBS run Torbay's very unlikely.

Since when has 61306 been a WCRC loco and why do you expect it to go to Fort Bill rather than 62005 and a variety of black fives?

DBS only operate locos with airbrakes so that rules out 6023 and 46115( in addition to the later being a West Coast Loco).Does 61306 have airbrakes ?. 35028 has hauled trips for Steam Dreams and UK Railtours, but these trips have all started from the London area, so again unlikely. These trips have had to fit around its VSOE commitments.

As a one off maybe Rood Aston Hall could do a stint, a GWR engine with chocolate and cream carriages in a seaside location, perfect

Not possible as stated above Torbay Express is DBS operated and only operate air brake locos.
My guess is 34046,5029,70000,60019 and outside shot of 35028,46233 very outside shot.

The Torbay Express website states " Historic steam locomotives include 5029 Nunney Castle, 4464 Bittern, 70000 Britannia (which hauled the Royal Train in 2012) and 34046 Braunton "

My bad - I was confusing 61306 with others!

61306 is vac only I believe.

4965 is otherwise engaged on summer Sundays before you consider TOC's and crewing.

Nunney, Britannia and Braunton sounds about right, have to say I enjoy seeing the Western reporting numbers on the Brit, just need to find some Western Star nameplates...

Can't beat a Castle with 10 choc and cream Mark I's (what happened to the barrier vehicle rules?) as happened on 4th August last year - looked an absolute treat!

Here is one of the excellent videos -

Hope 5029 gets a few more runs out this summer. Don't think I'll be travelling though as the prices seem unreasonably high for a repeat itinerary run. Hope to time a trip to Devon to watch one go along the seafront though.

No I do not currently volunteer

being pedantic wouldn't we need to find some western style smoke deflectors ;) in all seriousness renaming the Brit as a western allocated one would be fine with me.

Umm, you could run it as a pre-Steventon western loco?
