Be interesting if 4965 is gauging or bookings, Sheffield via the East Mids never struck me as an attractive itinary for the dayrtipper.

    Damn, that spoils my afternoon!
Was planning on going to the Great electric train show at Gaydon then finding a spot later in the day to see 5043 on the OWW.

It also clashes with RTCs Westbury to Kingswear train. Sapperton or the seawall? Decisions, decisions. <BJ>

Letter arrived today confirming that the jolly to Sheffield with 4965 has been caped. Sadly it seems Vintage Trains think their customers don’t deserve an explanation of the reasons for this cancellation, with the only statement regarding this issue being ‘we have been forced to cancel the Robyn Hode Salas’.

My footage of 5043 'Earl Of Mount Edgcumbe' on yesterday's Welsh Marches trip, seen at Kidderminster, Abergavenny (blistering performance by the way!) and Hereford.

    All,

Bottom line is this. The bookings on the Robyn Hode were very poor. We do not like to cancel trains for any reason, but we cannot run them at a significant loss. We were cleared for pathing, guaging, watering and any other -ing!

We were also informed that there was a late "challenge" with the Cotswold route on the 12th, so we elected to move it to the now vacant 19th.

I have responded to 99% of the emails myself with an explanation when requested.

We are as disapointed as anyone. We were looking forward to taking the Hall to places that rarely see steam, especially from the Western region!

Sorry to be blunt, but use it or loose it folks!

    Ben

    Thanks Ben ,

this really demonstrates the value of any organisation , be TOC , Railtour company , or railway contribution to the forum as we are all now clear on the reasons why changes happen
