To pwayman and lilbear, thanks for at least being honest. I am sure that there isn't just me who appreciates how dispiriting it must be when all the hard work that you and all the other volunteers are rubbished by folk who have nothing better to do than cause trouble.
I for one am appreciative of any information to keep me abreast of the progress taking place.
I really cant wait to see the line back open, not just for freight but passengers as well.

We did line walk today, down the Cauldon line, 7 of us, 4 of which had injuries of one kind or another so thanks lads for the turnout. It was great hearing the whistle of the Lampton tank No.29 echoing down the valley sounded like a mournful American engine. We passed the newly erected Bradnop sign which was paid for by some of a group called Friends of the CVR/MCR, who have been busy the past 9 months uncovering 77 years of tree and undergrowth. Unfortunately the railway removed all the facing bricks from the plaform after closure but we've done the best we can with no mechanical help. So if you are travelling up the Cauldon look out for the sign on the left hand side after the tunnel,( I would have said down side but it is confusing as the CVR/MCR line is horseshoe shaped). Anyway have posted some photos. 1 the line up at Cheddleton this morning. 2 the Lamptontank 29. 3 The Bradnop sign. and 4 work on the TKH 2944 which is progressing nicely.

As one of the walking wounded, I lead a line inspection walk from Cauldon to Apesford Crossing. Along the way we were gladdened by the sight of an excavator clearing the site of the loop at Ipstones and starting on the platform surface. Track will follow soon. Evidence that things really are happening !!

I just upload all the files in one go and click 'show all as thumbnails' - I think that is what I have done anyway.

Can you point me to the rubbishing and troublemaking? I've not seen any. This is quite a pleasant enjoyable thread from what I have seen.

Said person produced some quite scary images, if true, and attracted a lot of hostility with his claims. His claims however are unverified.
However his unwillingness to establish his credibility and stand by his "evidence" lead to him being labelled troublemaker rather than whistleblower, the lack of the "if true" lead to the discreditation and removal, not any "round up the boys give him a kicking to silence him" that may have occurred.

A General statement not just related to this thread follows..

    Good ethics are always encouraged.
The forum is not a popularity contest, all views are welcome, especially where safety is relevent, but if you bring some very controversial information to the forum, you need to be prepared to stand upto it, produce factual evidence and establish your standing, especially if the claims presented would lead to major repercussions if true. You can be sure of a hostile reaction from the other party. The forum will not support false or unverified claims, but if they are true, supported by fact, the forum has a good ear.

If anyone on any subject has a controversial issue, and is genuine and not just troublemaking, or a disgruntled volunteer settling a score etc etc, and doesn't know the best way to present it, you can always email the moderator team before posting.

I've got to say, this is really good news. I like the CVR. It's not too far from me & it is a picturesque line. I unfortunately don't have the spare time to volunteer, but the extension news is fantastic. It shows that the Board of both the CVR & the MCR have the will to do this & know that once it's done, will create a much bigger heritage line that is currently in operation. It shows foresight in a poor economic climate.

Some 107 posts to be precise, OK and perhaps a few could have remained but the context would have been lost.

What a great sunny day to go and do some weedkilling. A run up to Ipstones from Cheddelton to get in position and then weed killing from there to Endon, then Endon back to Ched. taking in the scenery. It makes working for the p/way worth while (sometimes). 4 photos of the run, no.1 on the Cauldon line. no. 2 getting ready for the Endon journey. no. 3 Approaching Endon. no. 4 Endon, end of the line for now.

So what exactly does the weed killer unit consist of, and how far out from the track do you spray?
