Has anyone any information on what's hauling the CME tomorrow as UKSteam says 46233 but on their timetable it says "loco to be advised"?

One guy at Diggle for the Flyer this morning said he had it on good authority (?) it would be 60009 on the CME tomorrow, quite why they switched them (if indeed 60009 turns up tomorrow) was unknown. Someone had emailed him late Thursday night about the switch. Listen for a chime and not a whoop then!

60009 departed Stockport a few mins late at 06.55. Well I assume it was no. 9. It sounded like it, but my view of the train on the viaduct was obscured by a 185 departing at the same time! 4.30am alarm call was a waste of time!

The ticket e-mails received from RTC last Friday (23rd) said 6233 on the Flyer and No 9 on the CME.

Please, a streak with no diesel? 31 August 2013

Yesterday was the second date I was booked to travel on the Tyne Tees Streak with from York to Newcastle and back with A4 Pacific No 4464 Bittern, with authority to go up to 90 mph. Again, it was cancelled just before the date, due to the continuing fire risk in the North East.

So I needed an alternative dose of A4, but I did NOT want one with a diesel doing most of the work!

Fortunately, today's Cumbrian Mountain Express was rostered to John Cameron's A4 No 60009 Union of South Africa, and appeared at Bolton in the early morning with 13 coaches and no diesel. I saw it again arriving in the loop at Hellifield to take water, then hightailed it to the delightful Settle station, where I took some general shots before the streak stormed up the Long Drag through the station. A splendid morning, with a bit of Autumn chill outweighed by some lovely sunshine.
