I wonder if it's more than just the fire-risk? The Fellsman and the SSE ran this week with diesel assistance, after all. Perhaps sales are low, or there's a problem providing the assisting diesel? I suspect it's a combination of different factors - an example of TOC and tour promotor judging each case on its own merits, perhaps? Let's hope the subsequent trips can run as planned and this weekend's passengers can rebook on them.

Could be that RTC prefer to cancel rather than use a diesel. As discussed elsewhere, it's all down to the different markets and whether the promoter feels the passengers will accept the use of a diesel.

Can anyone confirm whether 28/7 is a runner and the motive power arrangements please?

I'm afraid they have - 47 tucked in behind 46115, despite the overnight deluge!

Does anyone know what's rostered for tomorrow please-both steam wise and if it will be alone or helped by 47760?

Won't be too happy if at home and find out Galatea on it alone....

Had been told the Scot plus Uksteam is now showing 46115 but no idea if the tour will have a 47 on it though.

Wouldnt be surprised if the 47 pushes us, we might just notice it 2 coaches from the back.
Could be handy though as 2 of my last three forays to the Border town have seen me coming back without the Scot last August and this year without the 8f.
