I am booked for the July 13th and 14th charter, i am new to night time photography, i have done some before on my D400 at the svr gala last september. I was wondering if anybody has any tips on the following with a D600 camera for the night time:
    • What exposure to have the camera on?
    • Shutter Speed?
    • Camera setting AV with no flash?
    • Any other tips?
I would be very grateful if anybody could help

    Many Thanks

Yes I am an active volunteer
Whenever I do night photography, I tend to experiment with the exposures when i'm there, depending on available light, drifting steam, movement etc.

But normally, I work between 5 and 30 seconds (thus increasing the aperature to create a bigger depth of field) using the shutter priority function on ISO 200, without flash. I will always use a tripod and shutter release cable, and just keep testing shutter speeds until I find an exposure I am happy with. The great thing with night photography is that there is so much time to experiment as you're not waiting for clouds to move, or for shadows to disappear etc.

    Thanks,
    Lewis
