VT - The Cumbrian Conqueror - DH 5043 & 6233 over Shap

Have we gone completely bonkers? Who in their right mind would pair these two together for an assault on Shap in both directions?

Well the wind must be blowing in the direction of the funny farm, ‘cos we here in Tyseley have proposed just that!

Just wondered if you have considered a KED2 and EOME double header like this for next year? As that would be really special. And slightly less bonkers!

5043 wont take any pushing over Shap

 

I don't think either of them have anything left to prove on the Northern Speed Bumps.

Don't know about 6023, but woulden't surprise me if double headed, double chimney Castles is on the radar for 2014.

 

Now there's a thought, maybe a few heavy hints dropped to the right people could do the trick.

I looked at this as well as UK Steam suggests Crewe, but the timings would suggest Carnforth (unless they were planning a very swift change at Crewe!). Vintage Trains page confirms its Diesel to Carnforth.

Oh well looks like it will only be a southbound view at Lancaster on Saturday, thinking about taking the 13 week old daughter out to see her first train through as its a rare chance for her to see some Swindon magic - she will sleep through it anyway!!

 

Steam is Carnforth > Carlisle > Tyseley.

47-773 is doing the Tyseley > Carnforth leg in the am.

 

Returning over the settle and Carlisle so will not run southbound through Lancaster I'm afraid.
