I hope that we shall be seeing more of Mayflower on the mainline this year since she has now arrived at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. The test run this week has been impressive to say the least. She is ready !

This from East Coast's Twitter feed: Several line side fires are causing disruption in the Darlington area.
The fires have be caused by s steam locomotive passing through the area. The fire service are en route to deal with the fires.
Because of this, trains are currently at a stand in the Darlington area. This is no current estimate for when a normal service will resume.

Many parts of the country still have not had anything but showers since the problems with 48151, we do need a prolonged spell of rain, 3 or 4 days would about do the trick.

The rain was quite heavy when Tangmere departed from Bristol on Saturday. Today the soil underfoot has half inch cracks in it.
With the temperatures now hitting the 20 degree mark, it doesn't take long to dry the earth and vegetation. <BJ>

I hope this doesn't affect the 90mph proposed runs for the A4 celebration next month.

Oh hell, these two are damn good performers on the big railway too. However, idle speculation on here as to the cause probably won't help matters; best to wait until the real facts are known.

Anyone know what this is? Originates from NRM and stops for an hour at Southall Loco Services Ltd.

I presume you are referring to this evening's 5Z60 York-Southall-Bristol move ?. It is probably 60009 moving to Bristol for Day 2 of the Cathedrals Explorer Bristol-Shrewsbury on Fri 10-May, but I don't yet have confirmation of this.
