I'm planning to visit on 3 March; hope it will be a 65 day!

    Norman.

Beatrice is almost back together and so should appear on a test run next weekend if all goes according to plan. Re-entry into traffic will depend on how that goes and how much more running in is required.

Work on 65 has thrown up some other issues which are being sorted - the new valve rings were cast, but the old ones were steel, bits were found to be bent and so there are some alignment issues to resolve... Will try to find out more tomorrow.

Seems to have gone well, but I don't know the specifics. Keep an eye on the Galas section for more details as to the Branchline Weekend in May.

Beatrice should be out a few times before then as well. If I get definite dates, I'll try to post here.

65 will be running on Sunday / Monday / Tuesday, having returned from the SVR in a bit of a state. This has now been rectified.

Norman was out today and will be out tomorrow.

Beatrice is having the cracked trunk rod guide sorted out by a specialist welding company. I presume new bushes will then be made for it as it seems as though the previous ones were too tight a fit into the casting, hence the crack.

Well I've never heard of a trunk rod before! What is it?

I'm not 100% sure - I may have got it mixed up from the discussion I had! Valve gear, front end related, anyway. I could point to it... but I'm not sure that helps too much!

That's two passengers for Sunday at least, and a large amount of saleable stuff for the shed fund shop in the back of the car.

Thanks for the gen. I know several other people after a spin behind 65 and I'll let them know.

65 was out on test today, double heading one trip with Norman and then taking the last trip solo. No ill effects, thankfuly. Should be fine for tomorrow.

Owing to coal availability, Norman will be out tomorrow, not 65. We currently have two different types of coal, but not enough of the one we need for 65! Supplies have been rather hit recently...

    Tuesday 16th - 65
    Saturday 20th - 65
    Sunday 21st - 65
    Tuesday 23rd - 65

Norman is having a washout and 14-monthly

1300 arrives and may / may not make an appearance before the gala on public services (should 'land' Wed / Thur this week)

Beatrice - if the casting arrives back before Saturday 20th there is a good chance of it featuring in the gala. If not, then not. Fingers crossed.

    Saturday 27th - 1300
    Sunday 28th - 1300

Beatrice's casting has returned and been machined. Just requires the bushes fitting and final machining. Also due to undergo cold boiler exam this Friday. Going to be tight, but looking positive!

Sorry - dud info for this w/e - must have been half asleep - certainly didn't think about what I had written!

    Saturday 27th - 65
    Sunday 28th - Norman or 65
Norman is having a cold examination on Friday, and should be out on Sunday following Saturday's steam test. 1300 won't be out until the gala.

    Apologies!

Apologies - 1300 was indeed out this last w/e - info given in good faith, but defective!

Unfortunately one person turned up and was reportedly rather rude towards some of our volunteers upon finding 65 not running. With anything loco-wise there are so many possible problems / pitfalls etc. that can lead to alterations being made. It is always the best policy to check by phoning to request the information before travelling to avoid disappointment.

There is certainly no excuse for any less-than-polite treatment of volunteers who have given up their time to run the services, and usually have no part in the decisions made.
