Running 22 early at Craven Arms on RTT if anyone's out there cutting it a bit fine for a shot.

 

I'm clearly rubbish at interpreting RTT data! Must have been a pub stop, or that 19 mins allowance in the schedule more likely

 

Piloting a five Carnforth to Carlisle with another five banking. The jub has also been given a coat of plain green and will run with the tender of 46115. What odds?

 

350-1 for that.

45699 failed with steam leak, so 2 Black Fives again tomorrow.

Seems like its not the only leak...

This is turning out to be the "Riley tour of Britain", like the "Great Tangmere of Britain" of a few years ago.

 

You sure you don't mean 46115 as that was the advertised loco for day 4?

No, 46115 needs new tyres, 45699 has steam leak, so it's 2 x Black Fives again - I believe that's what the passengers have been told.

I wonder what would have happened to this tour if Ian Riley's Black 5's were not available, all it needs now is a run down the East Coast main line, and the tour could be renamed
'The Black 5 tour of Great Britain'

Well Bittern hasn't been out on test yet....who's up for a bit of Black 5's Edinburgh to York, with No. 9 taking the leg to the Cross?

Well, I was going to keep my mouth shut, but I'm thinking the same thing everybody else is. I can't wait for this long winter slumber for so many of the other steam locomotives to end. RTC are doing the best they can with the deck of cards they have been dealt to work with. Still, I hope I'm not the only one scratching my head about 46233's unavailability for tomorrow's jaunt.
