it would be nice to one day have Gervase visit us for a gala weekend i,m sure we could gainfully employ her on brake van rides or something , or even top and tail her with Marcia on a couple of our vintage 4 wheelers on a junction road shuttle

From the photos on the Elsecar website, it looks very much as though she's going to be outshopped in KESR blue.

That's dead on B'wick-and she is booked for next year's 50th anniversary gala. KESR workshops at Rolvenden were contracted to renovate her boiler and power unit. Reassembly has been at Elsecar as directed by owner Mike Hart.

By far the finest quality colour photo I have yet seen of 'Gervase' in the 1960s on the K&ESR.

A most welcome reference photo that will assist in lining out the restored loco.

Thank you to photographer Ron Bowyer for making it available for us to see.

Surely red should be on the port side and green on the starboard!

I thought that, but then wondered which way is forward on a vertical boilered Sentinel - after all, on their lorries, the cab is at the front...

I find it amazing just how many photos of such an obscure little shunting loco 'Gervase' at work at its quarry at Redhill in the 1950's & 60's continue to appear, although as a gentleman who was a young enthusiast / photographer at that time told me Redhill was only a bike ride from home in South London and when you got there you could be assured of an enjoyable trip on the footplate!

GCR website says Gervase will be giving brake-van rides at Loughborough Central over Easter. Great news!

Yes, amazing that this early BR livery was inspired by the early K&ESR blue . K&ESR website says Gervase will be present for the May bank-holiday weekend including Tenterden-Rolvenden shuttles double-headed with Marcia; pushing service trains up Tenterden bank, and a return trip to Bodiam. Sounds like good fun.

Yes - we are looking forward to it! Following its appearance at GCR over the Easter weekend Sentinel steam loco 'Gervase' will then be off to the Kent & East Sussex Railway 4/6th May bank holiday ‘Steam Up Weekend’ when we will celebrate 50 years since the loco first steamed in preservation at Tenterden. Another fantastic example of what can be done when preservationists set their minds to it.

Sentinel works no. 6807, Gervase, the only known remaining potentially serviceable Sentinel ‘conversion’ loco, carried passengers for the first time in fifty years (if ever?) with a consist of two BR Standard Brake Van's between Loughborough Central station and Loughborough's Up Main Section signal. On Good Friday she shared brake van rides with BR Class 10 10119. Easter Monday we ran an extra service with Gervase operating the 1315 departure to Leicester North and return stopping at Quorn and Rothley on the Up direction, and Rothley on the return passing through Quorn Non stop. She ran alongside BR Standard 2 78019, GWR 'King' 6023 King Edward II, LMS Jinty 47406 and the Class 101 DMU. Also at Quorn, there were Traction and Showman's engines' on display. I found these on youtube (Not Mine) of the weekend, which turned out to be our most successful Easter Event in recent years
