Ha, ha. My chippy's some 15 miles from the Dunstable Siding so I think it will be a while yet before customers arrive by train in an ex-NIR "Thumper." :)

Think you're missing a trick here - you should be talking to the railway promoters about a possible food franchise. Maybe even convert part of the NIR dmu's into a mobile chippy? And then run the dmu's on the waste oil?

Oh, I'm on a roll here. "Chip-powered public transport" - you know it makes sense.

Is this the thyme and plaice for such frivolous discussion? I thought this was a serious thread about diesel identification?

I'm surprised AR isn't bidding for those sparky boxes that are threatened with meeting their maker. I foresee another opportunity here to pimp up a pacer - operating push-pull on the SBR with an 86 sandwiched in the middle :) Well it can't be anymore difficult than importing Paddy's thumpers and regauging can it? :deadhorse:

And since the line is not that long, just have a large drum on the side with a long cable to supply the power, a lot cheaper than OHL.

Ok - run 'em on animal fat. Wouldn't they be able to get some sort of green/environmental/recycling money for that?

I'm sure the GM of the SBR has an application submitted for a major grant from several grant awarding bodies to develop the technology to do just that...

What, a possible food franchise with the sole member of the Dunstable Siding (Going Nowhere Fast) Regeneration Group (Pie In The Sky) Ltd.? I predict sales below £0.00 a year.

What are you on about man? Finest palm oil here - no animal derivatives at all.

Admit it you couldn't think up a response so instead you reverted to being sensible.

No no, don't give in now, I think we all agree that a Deltic powered pacer would be "different". Now we need a livery discussion, (must be a couple of weeks since we had one of those), to decide what colour to paint it. Me? I'd go for Leyland Brown, remember those BL cars? brown with brown upholstery, fabulous. We could involve Heritage Painting after seeing the job they've done on 60008. :peace:

The UK mainline diesel fleets have been grounded after it was discovered their HP rating was flawed.
Traces of Cow was found in the calculation.

Oh yes - this thread hasn't got to the bottom of the diesel barrel yet.
