I just went to the PRCLT Site a few minutes ago and they have posted the Following. Spring 2013 Trips shall be announced Thursday, January 10. Drumroll please!!!!

 

Without wanting another livery debate over what happened - I quite agree Ralph. The BR green looks very dull on her.

The programme looks remarkably similar to previous years. Good luck to them if they can fill their trains by running the same tours every year, but it would be nice to see something different for a change.

Some tours feature year after year because they are profitable, VT always have tours for Chester & York for that reason.

 

But that is last years program noticing that the Citadel Express is still set for Saturday, May 26th the Same day that 5043 started it's journey to Scotland and passed the Duchess on Shap.

I can't wait for the red to return as well. I am going to bring back the Duchess page over in Steam Traction. we can talk about the colors in that thread.

Hope the Duchess gets a fair bit of work from other promoters looking at that, 4 tours all from East Midlands/South Yorkshire, maybe I'm misreading it or there's more to come later in the year, but I thought Crewe - Carlisle & return via Shap was a permanent fixture in the Duchess calendar ?.

 

I'm also a surprised by the short list as well to be honest. 5 Spring tours last year compared to 3 this year?

 

In preservation...

46229 was save for a weekend, red.
6201 has only ever been red
6233 has for but one year been red.
5690 has only ever been red
6100 has only ever been red,
5593 was most of the time been red.
theres even an 8F in red (but tbh I think that suits it)

For those of us who weren't born in 1968... Red on a high powered LMS engine.. Does become a bit dull.

Hallelujah for 46115 ( and 45596) otherwise it'd be a red-wash out in preservation.

i hope for 46233 to remain green a bit longer, especially as the elders preach of this colour scheme and todate in 2012 46233 only made it south once, and 46115 was in 2011 maybe twice ?

 

I think a few at Swanwick are less than keen on Green( I can imagine one who's under starters orders with a tin of Maroon n brush ), I won't complain too much as at least the Maroon is authentic, just would love to see a Blue Duchess one day, in model form it looks the business on ex LMS Blood & Custard stock, I've yet to see a class 8 that Blue doesn't suit.

without the right stock.. May as well paint it LNER green as its just as authentic.

notice no one is complaining about a BR Green 45699, it can't be that unpopular a colour scheme.
to be really different it would be nice to see an experimental lime green double chimneyed jubilee with the purple lining...as modelled by mainline and published in colour on the covers of Back Track magazine from the early days of BR... Save for those it would be a colour scheme lost to history.

 

Nobody has yet mentioned the star attraction in this year's programme, offering a return trip over both Shap and Beattock over two days, plus a night in a famous old railway hotel and a gala dinner. Something very special, which recalls the epic runs of the Duchesses from Crewe to Perth on sleepers, Postals and other crack expresses. I'll have to dig deep, but it will be worth it!
