Interesting to see the names on some of the "Jubs", better suited than on the growling blue (or whatever) "Hoovers".

A rarity my Dad photographed on Eastbourne shed back on the 20th June 1964 was Jubilee no.45672 "Anson". On paper the loco was down as withdrawn for scrapping and also Jubs were banned from the Southern Central Region. But I guess the relevant authorites never checked with this and along with classmate "Mauritius" also ended up being shedded at Eastbourne during the same time.

Neil, just for me, have you got a photo of Jubilee "Seahorse"? It'll bring back a lot of memories.
    Thanks.

why do Patriot's and Jubilee's have grocers' apostrophes that Royal Scots don't?

What about Dauntless, Mars, Bihar and Orissa? They were regulars along the Calder Valley......can't believe I used to groan "not Dauntless again".........happy days........Friday mornings always used to watch one at Bradley Junction....and then had to run like hell to get into school on time.......sometimes did'nt make it....and had to spin a yarn about the bus being late.....gosh almost forgot, it was a trolley bus, Huddersfield one...

Funny how some locos bring back very clear memories of where and when you saw them.'Mars' was a long time Bank Hall[27A] resident and I recall passing that depot on a school trip in the early 60's and seeing it from the top deck of the bus, in immaculate condition, outside the shed, and it was a cop for my mate and I! The other passengers looked puzzled at the sudden burst of excitement.I also recall approaching Leeds station on a school railway society trip and crawling past a rather grubby 'Jub' on the adjoining line.. Having missed the smokebox plate the name 'Seahorse' slowly drifted past the window with the cabside following to confirm - another cop. Those were the days!

They broke the mould after making yon Bihar and Orissa thing. It was a machine and a half, nothing much would steady that engine down.
Bradley was a trolley bus terminus IIRC.
A grubby Seahorse the man said..........it was built like that, I don't think it ever was clean.

Thanks Neil, not to worry, my man Osprey has kindly provided a link and I found it.

Because Britain is full of people who have never quite got the hang of apostrophe use. Unfortunately Keith Waterhouse, the founder (and sole member) of the AAAA* is no longer with us or he would be onto this case like a shot! (* That was the Association for the Abolition of the Aberrant Apostrophe).

The Jubilees were quite a common sighting but they always got us young lads excited. They put in a lot of damn hard graft during their lives.

Yes, Bradley was the terminus.......and could those things accelerate.....you'd no chance of catching one and jumping on board.......

Holbeck's finest, 45562 Alberta, 45593 Kolhapur and 45697 Achilles, were kept in immaculate condition during their last months. The same could not be said of the L.M. region's last Jubilee, 45627 Sierra Leone of Bank Hall. It was filthy at the end.
Can anyone help me with this query: -
When 41C Millhouses shut in 1962 some of it's allocation of Jubilees were dispersed to other sheds, but some were reallocated to 41A Darnell and put into store at either Darnell or 41H Staveley (G.C.). Also, stored with the Jubilees were rebuilt Patriot 45536 and Scots 46151 and 46164.
I visited 41H in 1962 and can recall seeing some of these, but I am not sure which ones they were. Anyone got any idea?
