Does anybody know what's on the SSE this week please? (W/C 20/08/2012)
My grandchildren are getting restless....."grandad can we have, can we do, can we go?"

They must think I'm made of money.

I presume then that the ecs goes round the houses on this trip as a straight out and back to NH from York would get the stock turned.

From the 5305LA website ( news section) "it will move to York for the Scarborough Spa Express from the 27th-30th August, followed by The Waverley of Sunday 2nd September."

Thank you, Thursday has been penciled in. I'll consult the bank tomorrow and see if they will fund a flock of grandchildren a day at the seaside, (Well, 2.5 hours ish)

Hope you have a good supply of fishing nets and bucket and spades, for when you get the flock onto the beach....
Don't forget when you get back to Scarborough station for the return, there could well be a chance to get pics of them on the footplate as well.

Why would Victor want a picture of fishing nets, buckets and spades on the footplate?

Typical bank holiday weather, with LMS 5MT No.45305 seen at Sherburn in Elmet and Fairburn Ings on the 27th August 2012.

I'm on it tomorrow so hoping for a similarly vociferous performance from 45305.

An enjoyable if somewhat pedestrian day on the SSE yesterday. The fireworks on the climb to Ardsley tunnel were the highlight of the trip, a superb display from 45305. Other than that not a great deal of spirited running but then again the timings don't seem to require any. It's my first trip on the SSE since it was rerouted via Wakefield but I recall things being a bit more lively on previous trips

You didn't give poor old Victor a wave at Wakefield Westgate. Stood there, watching, (free loading :tape:) all alone. :eek:hwell:

Which platform were you on old chap, London bound or Leeds bound?

    London bound.
I've done a bit more free loading today, cruising down to Leeds in the car and it snook up on me, it was just ambling down from Ardsley tunnel towards Leeds, It looked really well.

Must have seen you. I was in the coach right next to the loco, front door, fireman's side doing sound recording. Mind you, I more likely to closer notice of one or two young fillies on the platform. :)

Just had to go on the last 2012 evening circle tonight where I thoroughly enjoyed the performance of 5305.

Also great to see the affection & interest the West Yorkshire folk have for this service with a very full train, plus a lot out to say goodbye to the crew and train staff as well as enjoy the sight.
