Vendors must be able to show reasonable care and skill in the assembling of the product they are selling

Advertising the use of a loco that is either not yet in ticket, or contracted, both fail the test. Yes - I know - you need to build up work for a loco whilst you are preparing it for a ticket - but that has no bearing on consumer law - sorry!

Nah - he has a chip - well a few hundred of them in fact, so he thinks he knows about the law.

Thanks for the suggestion Stephensons_Ghost. I looked around for other steam trips and the Cathedrals Express to Norwich is a possibility although, sadly, price is also a factor and Steam Dreams would want £323 for the four of us for this trip which, compared to RTC's £180 family ticket, starts to make plenty of other possible days out look like bargains! Bristol is a bit far to drive for an early start with small kids (we live quite near Woking). Maybe next year...

That's questionable judging by recent events.

We were also booked on this and were really looking forward to it. Looks like we will have to have a refund as we can't all make the dates in September.

In which case you should respect my opinion. Yawn.
Mr Gradwell has been carping on about RTC and the law since time immemorial - or so it seems - but apart from posting pretty much the same stuff on here time and again he seems to do nothing else about it.
If they've broken consumer law regarding any dealings he's had with them then he should do something about it. Nothing he posts on here will make the slightest difference whether RTC have flouted the law or not unless trial by internet forum has all of a sudden become part of the legal system.

Well said. It's the same old stuff time and time again. Well all know Frank won't actually do anything...actions speak louder than words and all that.

OK then Frank, you're the expert or so you'd have us believe. What are you going to do about your perceived grievances with RTC beyond reminding the forum on a regular basis that you hate them? If they've done you wrong - legally speaking - then surely you have recourse to the law or will your sole achievement in this matter be the lifetime ban you've been handed down? Almost as good as our local CAMRA chairman getting barred from the local CAMARA Pub Of The Year. Not the smartest of moves.

I said nothing that disrespected your opinion. I merely question the style of delivery.

As I understand it, Frank has voted with his wallet and does noit ride on RTC. His choice. It does not make his comments and opinion less valid. I firmly believe that anypone who challenges for a refund if unhappy will get it as a tour operator will not want the matter challenged in a Court. Full and complete disclosure will be required by the tour operator and if they were not in a position to sell the product that they advertised, they will lose. One day they may decline a refund and the customer will take that action. That is not a good place to be if "paying off" is an easier option that avoiding the problems in the first place.
