    Afternoon All,

There was a superb turnout of vintage buses at the Aldershot & District Bus Running Day on Sunday. And not just Aldershot & District buses, either! Some were just on static display but many were in operation giving rides around the area. I went for a spin in a 1955 Bristol which was quite an experience. I'd forgotten just how these old buses used to sound!

I took some pictures whilst there and a selection is now on my Flickr site if anyone is interested to have a look. Here's the link :

Aldershot & District Bus Running Day - a set on Flickr

The event was to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Aldershot & District Traction Company Limited in 1912.

Hope that the pictures are of interest.

Nice. Brought back fond memories of childhood holidays in Sussex with Aldershot & District buses being seen en route and many a journey on a Southdown double decker during the vacation. Thanks for sharing.

Memories, those from behind the driver, It's a long time since I used one of those indicator controls.
I didn't do a lot of bus driving (only a bit, part time) but I've driven quite a few of those models.
The half cabs, sat there, by yourself with a Gardner or a Leyland by your left leg. :thumb:
    Thanks for the photos.

Wow ... serious nostalgia! Used to use the Aldershot & District No 17 from home to Farnham town centre in the 1960s.

One bus I didn't see in the collection is preserved A&D double decker 220 (LOU 48). Was it there?
I used to always travel on this bus as a kid in the late 50's/early 60's from Spencer's Wood to Reading on A&D route 12.

As a young lad I was interested to see that A&D named their double deckers but couldn't work out why they were all called Loline III and who was this Loline anyway? Some years later the penny finally dropped. :)

I don't recall seeing it although it does appear in the programme. Perhaps it was unavailable at the last minute or it was always out on the road and I missed it.

All being well I shall be going to the Alton Bus Rally in July so it might be there then.

Many thanks for sharing those. Brilliant to see RT3775 again, many memories of the mid 90's when she made guest appearances on London & Country's 406 'Santa Specials' when I was a youngster.

Yes; she was running all day, doing the Farnborough Main Line---Farnborough FIVE---Aldershot Stn---Hali-mote Rd service. The Gardner 5LW gives her a totally different feel fron Dennis O6-engined 145. As a kid I also enjoyed the occasional ride on an A&D Dennis southwards from Reading. Wonderfully-engineered buses!

Thanks for your answer. I am pretty sure I remember you from years ago in Reading in the bus preservation world.
