Hm... with some LSWR gate stock... I could be tempted back to 4mm scale if that happened.

How about some full size gate stock replicas? Now that would be nice, but probably not for another 20 years or so....!

I'd be grateful for any updates about this coming weekend 31 March/1 April. The website has B473, 592, 80151 on 31st and no info about Sunday as yet. I find myself unexpectedly available both days and would appreciate any info.

Haven't seen the STN yet, but probably:

    Saturday:

    80151 on 11am / 1pm / 3pm ex SP service train with Bulleid / Mk 1 rake
    592 on 12am / 2pm / 4pm ex SP service train with Maunsell set
B473 on Wealden Rambler cream tea train (pre-booked only; runs one trip in the afternoon)

Sunday probably the same, except B473 will be on the Golden Arrow dining train (pre-booked, runs two round trips at 12:30 and 2:30 ex SP).

If I hear anything different I'll say; it's conceivable that 592 and B473 work the other way round (e.g. B473 on the Maunsell rake and 592 on the specials).

Couple of pics just gone up on the Bluebell News page, one showing 263 in the works with boiler cladding and side tanks on. Not long now! Another showing a spaceship (92212) has landed at SP. But just a thought, would the way she's facing on the low loader mean she's facing south?

    Works for me?

Judging from the photos, can't say whether she faces north or south - the ones I have seen show her "cross-wise", i.e. in the staff car park pointing directly at the station building, perpendicular to the track, still on the back of the low-loader. At a guess I'd say the intention would be that she faces north (only one tender engine has ever faced south at the Bluebell to my knowledge - the Standard 2 that came for a visit a couple of years ago) but I suppose anything is possible. I'll be at the railway on Sunday if no-one has confirmed before then! the photos also don't show a tender yet...

The return load was Bulleid open 3rd 1456, which is going to the MHR on a 25 year loan for restoration and then for them to run in their growing Bulleid set. I'll put a note in the rolling stock movements thread.

This is the link in question.

    29 March

    • The photo on the right is from a gallery of photos taken yesterday evening by Michelle Barton, showing that on-hire 9F No.92212 has arrived at Sheffield Park. It also shows Southern Railway Bulleid open third No.1456, which is the return load, going on 25-year loan to the Mid Hants Railway to enable them to run a 3-coach Bulleid set once restored.

Can't help I'm afraid - as I say, the link works for me, and I'm not a Windows Live user, so it isn't anything to do with me having enhanced permissions. Sorry...

Well I don't understand it, as I said it takes me to the Microsoft Sky Drive sign in page. When I sign in (I do have a Windows Live Hotmail account) the said photos are then displayed on Sky Drive. Very strange.

As a Mid-Hants member and volunteer, it is nice to see some non Mk1 coaching stock coming our way, thank you Bluebell (you were my local railway when I grew up and my Aunt and Uncle still live close by) 92212 is a splendid loco, though my wife was none too pleased to be stuck in a queue in East Street Alresford yesterday as the Allely's rig negotiated the turn out of Station Road!

Could we at somepoint this year or next be getting a visit from an IOW based loco. Because 24 Calbourne is visiting Bodmin (Bodmin was due lend the IOW 30587 for their 40th Anniversary Gala but she failed and couldn't attend) and the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre (which sent 30585 to the IOW as a replacement for 30587). The Bluebell lent them 473 so could we be getting a visit from 24 Calbourne or maybe W11 Newport or W8 Freshwater.

OK, have the timetable. It's as I said above, except that it will be B473 on the Maunsell set and 592 on the Saturday Wealden Rambler / Sunday Arrow. I'll be on the Sunday Arrow...

Yeah I'll be going to see it there know knowing my luck she'll also turn up at the Sussex Branchline Weekend in October. I had a feeling she would visit that weekend as she is at the BRC the weekend before and the MHR is on the way back home. I was just stating that as that maybe we could be getting a visitor to the Bluebell in exchange for 473's visit last year as 24's visits seem to be exchanges as well (I understand 30587 is due to visit the IOW ast somepoint to make up for no show last year).

I think Tom's right to the best of my knowledge about 78019 being the only visiting tender loco to face southbound on the Bluebell in 2010.

The J36 also faced south when she visited back in 1999 - https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/A_GiXgjoArJOpJUG0QsoE9MTjNZETYmyPJy0liipFm0?feat=directlink
