May have a trip up to make up for my no-one show in October. Last time Lord Nelson was there I didn't get a chance to ride behind it.

Deleted what I just said about the Duke not being in action. Boy was I wrong.

71000 has been added to the list, but 850 has been dropped on the ELR event page. Is this a mistake or is 850 now not coming?

80080 will still be at the ELR. 6 locos running with 80080 as reserve. Not often there is a standby loco at an ELR steam gala.

I would add all highly appropriate as well..
There is no halloween event the week later, so hopefully the volunteers have time to prepare the stock...

regardless the colour of the stock, every locomotive could be matched with an accurate train.. the 5's with Blue and Greys... even 850 on the blue greys would look 1970s north west.. hopefully the 080 on the freight :pray2:, the duke with any passenger stock... and maybe a bit of snow...
I'm tempted to visit this one, if another green pacific was maybe tempted out of the works then i'd be sold.

The GCR is turning out 10 locomotives a week later interesting to compare the fares / rosters of the 2 galas, which will probably swing it one way or the other.

I hope locos get to swap between rakes to be honest, 850 on blue/grey is appealing but people wouldn't be happy if that was the case all weekend or even for a day.

To be honest, if you're taking a photo of 850 in Southern Green it's going to look stupid on any Mk1 you stock you put it on? Unless as said you're trying to replicate a photo of it being on the mainline in the 70s/80s...

Which way does each loco face? I am not familiar with the ELR and this will be my first visit so please could you say Rawtenstall or Heywood rather than other places such as Manchester/up/down/north etc.
