Hang your coat back up and continue please! LOL!

PS. Is the 159 ban to be for weekdays only, or does it include weekends as well?

Strewth. Now get your coat, or ask someone to hold it for you. Your post means I've just typed the class number of a box. (shock, horror etc).

'Steve from GWR' - wasn't the Chertsey departure a gem?! However, Network Rail has probably alienated a few more road users from the railways by lowering the crossing barriers and setting the road before the train was even in sight, and then keeping it that way for the entire duration of the arrival, watering and departure, despite the fact that the crossing is perfectly well signal-protected. Thus the road was closed for about 18 minutes! All this while using TV adverts to try to stop people jumping level crossing lights!

I was standing next to you on the bridge (tall, black leather jacket with a still camera resting on the parapet), I must have done the same as you - arrival shots from very end of the platform, then a few stationary ones, then a dash to the bridge! Can't understand why your video is so full of swaying motion, though - seems odd. My shots are on Flickr under Deepgreen2009.

Thanks Deepgreen. I managed to keep it a bit steadier for Tornado today, which is here: Steam Train: 60163 Tornado, Cathedrals Express, Chertsey - Ely, 12 Dec 2011 - YouTube

Re the level crossing, I guess it's NR's cautious approach to those things with fires in their bellies and air between the wheel spokes :) Fortunately that's a very quiet road as the bridge takes the traffic through the town.

Cos of the dash on Saturday I couldn't use my tripod on the bridge, plus the guy behind me who arrived late was stood right up against me, so that was why it all came out a bit unsteady - handheld shots on the iPhone, no image stabilisation on that model either. Today I was the only one on the bridge. I went to the station but the 7.29 service train was delayed till 7.38 (cutting right down on Tornado's stopping time) so I abandoned that shot and just went to the bridge.

Really nice pics on Flickr - thanks for sharing those!

PS Yes brilliant noisy steamy departure - Tornado sounds like an EMU by comparison!

Saw your Tornado videos - lovely conditions again today - we have been lucky with the last few steam jaunts round here! I took a few stills at East Croydon this morning which should be on Flickr by tomorrow. Yes, you can't beat two cylinders ('Britannia') for noise. I happen to be at a meeting near Eastleigh on Wednesday, so I will very probably catch 'Tornado' somewhere around there - I hope both Botley and Eastleigh if I am quick off the mark from the former - there are stops at Hedge End AND Eastleigh, strangely!
