Hi all. I was thinking about locos that have moved on from their homes lately, or have been dug out of the weeds after years being forgotten.

I was wondering if people could possibly post which steam locos their lines currently have, including those out of use or awaiting restoration. I am also interested in incomplete locos, or major parts. I am trying to compile a current list, and any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    At the Bluebell Railway:

    Operational:

    P Class 323

    P Class 178
    E4 class B473 "Birch Grove"
    WC/BB 34059 "Sir Archibald Sinclair"
    C class 592
    U class 1638
    Standard 4MT 80151

    Under overhaul:
    Q class 541
    H class 263
    Standard 5MT 73082 "Camelot"
    S15 class 847
H2 class 32424 "Beachy Head" (new build - frames, wheels, cylinders, motion parts, boiler, buffers and tender underframe and wheels exist along with many small parts)
Standard class 2MT 84030 (partial new build from 78059)

    On display
    Dukedog 9017
    A1 class 672 "Fenchurch"
    O1 class 65
    WC/BB 21C123 "Blackmore Vale"
    Standard 4MT 75027
    B4 class 96 "Normandy"
    NLR tank 27505
    Standard 9F 92240
    415 class radial tank 488
    V class 928 "Stowe"
    U class 1618
    USA tank 30064
    Standard 4MT 80064
Standard 4MT 80100 (still in Barry condition)
    P class 27 (dismantled)
    Manning Wardle "Sharpthorn"

    Off site
Avonside 24 "Stamford" (Bluebell owned but at Rutland Railway Museum)

    Major parts
There is a spare boiler for the P class tanks and another for the C class, though both are in poor condition. A spare tender for the C class was broken up as twisted beyond repair, but major components (wheels, buffers, axleboxes etc) were recovered. There are a pair of cylinders I believe from a 9F and I think a new pair of Terrier cylinders.

Thanks Steve. I knew about this already. The reason I asked is that the list on that site lists engines in places that they moved from in 2007 or even earlier. It also doesn't list major components of engines, such as detailed by Tom above. I suppose it might be easier to aske everyone to update Mark, but then I still couldn't find out about components!

    Thanks Tom, very helpful indeed.

You might want to check Wiki as a lot of railway pages list the present condition of each locomotive.

For completeness, the NYMR List Posted by Bean Counter overlooks three NELPG engines nominally based on the NYMR, even if we don't see much of them (69023, 65894 and 62005) and 61264 is due to make its home on the railway for the next five years once its current overhaul is complete.

For the sake of locos that very very rarely travel to other lines/sites

    On the P&DSR there is

    7827 under repair
    5239 operational
    4277 operational
    75014 under overhaul

45025 on the Strathspey would also qualify in these stakes.
