I understand that the boiler is to have it's first fire and steam test this week.

Crikey! They're really cracking on with her! Goes to show how well she's been looked after.

Think it was SR that said that the tubes were in such good condition they could have lasted another Five or so years! Shes a credit to the team who look after her!

Very impressive progress. Maybe she'll be ready in time to take over 6100's part in GBV ;-)

Can anybody tell me please the date when 6233 was last in steam? I presume it was sometime in November 2010. Looking at the rate of the overhaul so far, I imagine we'll be seeing her make her first moves in the first quarter of next year, a very impressive turnaround.

I think it was mid-November last year; I seem to recall that it did a few drive and fire turns at the MRC before bowing out. The last mainline tour was the London Explorer from Derby-King's Cross on 16 October 2010.

Not to diminish their efforts, 48151 was turned around between Aug 11th 2008 and Jan 2010, but then 4965 had a turn around in 6 months?, of course 45407's 14 weeks beats them all!

    Can't wait to see 46233.

I guess it all depends on how much money you have to finance the job, and now many people you can have working full time on it..

I can think have of 2 engines that have had over a million pound each spent on them and are still no where near running.

Agreed, it does depend on how well the money is controlled and spent.
