M7 30053 is to return home to Tunbridge Wells West shed for a special gala weekend in October to mark the 50th anniversary of the closure of the Westerham Branch.

The loco which was based at 75F in the early 1960s may not have been a regular performer on the branch itself, but featured heavily on Push-Pull operations so regularly witnessed working out of Tunbridge Wells West.

For more details see the Galas and Events thread.

The M7 appears courtesy of Swanage Railway and Drummond Locomotives.

I thought it was H Class locos that worked the Westerham Branch... pity the Bluebell couldn't help!

Sad to think that the Westerham branch was so nearly preserved, it would have been a nice little line.

It's undergoing overhaul.... i doubt very much the Bluebell could help in that circumstance...?

Plus 30053 was once a resident at Tunbridge Wells.

Exactly! Dragging their feet as usual! :peep:

As one who used to use both Tunbridge Wells lines I am delighted that the West station is the centre of steam operations.

Me too. When I published my web pages on fast steam locos etc. But not many people are prepared to do battle with a Yeti. LOL!

I do like the thought of an M7 working locally. Lovely machines. I'm quite pleased with the few shots I took of them in the early 1960s. http://www.germansteam.info/1962/M7s/M7s.html

Have to wander over to Tunbridge Wells for that event.

And I am looking forward to riding behind an H class again, wherever it is. http://www.germansteam.info/1962/H/H.html
