I think the B1 or B12 would be very popular. The furthest South the B12 has been is the MET when she worked on the Steam on the Met operations.

I doubt the B12 would be available. She is missing the September NNR gala and the MHR's is only a month after. If there was any possibility of the B12 being ready in that month i would think the NNR would want to keep hold of it which is fair enough seeing as it's already been 4 years since they last ran her (time flies, i was there on her last runs!) and they will no doubt want full use of her.

I wouldn't mind seeing Joem or the Q6 at the MHR though.

The B12 looks unlikely but the B1's could come down with 60163 as 60007 was/is?

I believe 60007 is still out of action although I also understand a lot of hard work is being completed for this locomotive to be back in steam asap

Only 1306 is operational though. Not sure when we will see her sister return to steam.

    Should there be a replacement.

For LNER I would love to see a B1 (they used to visit the South when there were loco shortages). I love the N2 so yes I would like to see that, 4492 I would like to see but she's busy that weekend. 4472 would also be great but unlikely.

Southern wise I wouldn't mind a Bulleid maybe 34070 to go with 34007.

Mind you there will hopefully still be 70000 and 60163 as guests so I'll be happy.

Yes it is a shame as I was really looking forward to seeing the blue streak!

A for a suitable replacement, one of the other visiting loco's from Barrow Hill would make a lot of sense for monetary reasons, as much as I'd like to see FS something tells me that aint gonna happen - the railway just wouldn't be able to cope with 4472 & 60163 appearing together - the crowds would be too big, and it only takes one idiot (and there were quite a few when tornado was at last years Spring Gala)...........

Scotsman would have to star on her own.

The most obvious choice then would be B1 Mayflower to come down in tandem with Tornado.

But from a personal point of view I would love to see either the K1 or K4, though the logistics and costs of either getting down may thwart that.

    So what are the alternatives?

The Garter Blue Streak is booked for mainline work, which is a shame (we cant go upsetting Steam dreams by demanding that they let us have 4492!).

so what does that leave - the J72, too small (but would be nice on the shuttle!) N2, that would be interesting.

B12, don't think NNR would let us play with it once it's overhaul is done - but you never know!

At the end of the day when reality bites it's going to come down to costs and availability so we shall just have to wait and see what rabbit is pulled from the hat!

At the end of the day though, I shall be there regardless :biggrin1: :thumb:

Good News Bit hard to say with over 2 months to go but the way the gala seems to be (BR Eastern Region it seems as 70000 used to be based on the Great Eastern section and 60163 is a new build of a class used on the ECML) so that might help.

Wouldn't a problem with Barrow Hill being permission might be needed should 1744, Joem or 1306 to be towed with 60163 on the mainline.

The Q6 would look superb paired with the Mid-Hants excellent set of BR wagons.

It certainly should be a N.E. region engine to keep the theme with 70000 and 60163. Just thought about 70013. Is she booked for anything in late October? UKsteam doesn't have her listed for anything. Might we get two Brits together at last? (Plus we could do with a Green BR Standard to make up for the absence of 73096!)

Yeah I've checked SD nad RTC's websites and they are the same no booked tours so maybe. 2 Brits would be great and she was part of the Great Eastern like 70000 was so she'll fit in the Eastern theme and it'll give me a chance for a ride behing both Brits for the first time. I've seen both in action (at my local station) and missed out on a ride with 70013 last year at the Bluebell.

What about an 8F which has never visited the MHR before or maybe the MHR could pull all the stops out and try for 4472 Scotsmam if she’s ready in time?

    Ps

If Blackadder is reading this please can we have another Bulleid Pacific or possible two if that’s not being to greedy.

34067 seems to be spare in London that weekend.

Though if in stead of 60007, how about 30926 ?

34067 - No chance of that I am afraid. She was supposed to go down to Alton on a railtour in 2007 but she only went as far as Aldershot and was taken off the railtour there. She is shall we say "allergic" to the MHR.

Didn't I read somewhere that the Schools 30926 is out for overhaul?

    I wouldn't mind 4472.

What's with all this talk of getting A N other flat top in for the Gala?

(you've got a mini Southern Gala in September anyway - to which I see pleas the MHR to put the standard 5 on passenger turns, at the moment, have fallen on deaf ears)

It's meant to be an Eastern Region themed event! So 4472 it is then! (or 4492)

    Yes I know!

They could always do a swap with the Spamcan ( If it could handle it) :tongue1:

My plan for the Saturday is to see the streak go through Iver then head on down for day 2 of the gala - best of both worlds :thumb:
