Any one else booked on this? Booked it up last week. As mentioned elsewhere on the forum 34067 "failed" yesterday. Does anyone know how bad the problem is and will she be ready for the Lincoln trip?

Yes i'm booked on this . Couldn't let a trip from my home town with a southern loco pass by especially as i was going to be in the area that week. I hope Tangmere will be ok but if not I would not be too put out if 70000 were substituted.

Yes 70000 would be very welcome! I think 70013 is also at Southall so a choice of 2 Brits perhaps?

Times are on Uk Steam http://www.uksteam.info/tours/t11/t0413b.htm. Since this tour is joining the East Coast Mainline at Copenhagan Junction, will it require a diesel on the back for the return ? (due the gradient up the bank once it leaves the East Coast mainline). I sure when Cromwell went this way, on a trip from Norwich to Poole in 2009, it was restricted to 8 or 9 coaches.

From the videos posted of her last trip she still seemed to be leaking steam from underneath, so i'd guess the air pump is still playing up?

Haven't UKSteam used the wrong tour code on this page?

It's saying t1203a in some places (title, tour link) rather than t0413b.

I was going to mention this, then I found out that was a Cathedrals trip Kings Cross to Lincoln due to run on the 3rd of December last year with 60007, but was cancelled due to bad weather. This latest tour might be some sort of replacement & using the same code.

Can anybody confirm that Tangmere will be available for this trip and is she in Carnforth? If so when is she coming south? I am thinking about booking but the uncertainty is putting me off!

This video is shot at Bickley http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVqz--k3_1g to quote the description "Tangmere seemingly less than steam tight on this run. Note the way the steam from the cylinder area is obscuring the forward view. at one point (00:41), the crew shut off steam and this seemed to clear the view ahead towards Bickley Junction.
The Sussex Bell, 30 March 2011"
To me this looks more than just an air pump problem. To have to shut of steam on a gradient to clear the view ahead cannot be tolerated, and the traction(?) inspector in the cab must have made notes of this.
Am I the only one here wishing Tangmere was overhauled at Crewe as before? Even the Black 5 sent in it's (and 70013's) place, also overhauled at Carnforth, had a number of problems during it's few booked runs in the south.
Whatever pulls this, if it's steam I'll be out somewhere for it.

Yes, I think you're probably the only one - Tangmere has never been overhauled at Crewe!

Looks like 34067 is the only choice for this run now from the stable at Southall. 70000 has piston ring problems, and 70013 has firebox problems going by reports on other threads on here. Unless back from the dead A4 4492 is available............

Lets hope 34067 is back to her best tommorrow.

A couple of minutes down at Winchfield. Going well, looked terrific, nameplates attached and flags on the smokebox. 37 on the back, don't think it was doing much though.
