If anyone is interested, there was between 14 and 18 people subscribed to that tour.

Oxford, "out in the sticks", I do hope that the people of that fine town do not take offence at your remark, it's a strange view, you seem to be saying that only tours starting in London are going to be profitable.
RTC seem to manage with tours starting Lancaster, Preston, Cleethorpes & Crewe to name a few, not places of vast population, but well supported tours nevertheless.

I understand that about 160 passengers joined the train at Oxford.

Well being married to a "city girl" who thinks anything more than 10 miles from Piccadilly Circus is out in the sticks must have influenced my thinking! I'm not saying it's a bad idea starting tours outside of London but just wondered how well it would be supported. If 160 joined at Oxford that's pretty good and presumably more joined at Reading and Slough. Actually I will probably take advantage of being able to join at Staines or Woking at some stage so I'm definitely not against the idea.

I'd agree with that. Haywards Heath is only a small Sussex town and about half way between Gatwick and Brighton. The RTC run trips from there (though they seem to start from Three Bridges now but still stop there) multiple times a year and I see a lot of people join the train there so trips from other places is a good idea. Mind you from Oxford I'm surprised more trips don't start or visit there.

One starts from Basingstoke on the 13th, which is a town. The destination is a city I think, Lincoln. As an aside, Tangmere is due to haul this, is it fit?
