Shame that the Standard Tank won't be in attendance. However 46643 is a good replacement at short notice.

Thats great news as will still get 80080 there in the summer I imagine?

Any idea when 80080 will go to the ELR?

Look forward to seeing a timetable.

Lots of these Ivatt 2MT's were based at Bury in the latter years of the MPD so it will be like turning the clock back 50 years. After 26D/9M closed it was used to store steam as well as the class 76/77/83/84 electrics, I have an idea 46443 was one of them but I lost my records some time ago. If I am correct it will be a return journey for the loco. Look forward to it's visit, 80080 will be with us for the February w/e all being well.

Erm... Good to see the ELR have hired a very large headboard in for the weekend then! It has to be said, 46443 and 73129 don't get many solo runs, do they?.

AFAIK 46443 is restricted to load lengths of less than the 6 car rakes in use ,so has to be with another loco. Boring response but true, and said without any response to 'smart' quotes.

Fair reasoning, but is there much point in hiring the thing in that case? At the very least, surely there could be room for some Ramsbottom shuttles as per other galas? Still, if I'm alone in seeing it as an odd move, then there's no issue!

apart from 44871 all loco will face North (towards Rawtenstall).
46443 is limited to 4 coaches (i'm sure the owner will love to hear you call it a headboard george, we know you are an industrial fan but give it a rest!!) but i can tell you that us at the ELR are thrilled to host such a bonny little engine for a few months aswell as the other guest locomotives ;-)
i look forward to seeing you all at the event.. look out for me i will be the one running round like a headless chicken pulling all my hair out and trying to make sure that all the customer have a good day!

Nothing to do with the loco's origins (for once!), or indeed anything to do with the loco itself, but if its use all weekend is piloting 73129 around, it would appear to be rostered as such! But as it appears I'm alone with that opinion, it doesn't matter :).

How long is 46443 staying at ELR for?

And if you read the t/t carefully, she does do some runs on her own kind of as the second loco is a banker. Only doubleheaders for her are in the morning with 73129 Ramsbottom to Heywood (both tender first), and the afternoon with 44871 Bury - Ramsbottom (Tender to Tender).

46443 to stay at ELR until end March and faces north.

I wonder why it is limited to four coaches? It pulls more than that on the SVR and I'm told that the SVR isn't a bowling green-flat line by people from there! Bury to Ramsbottom isn't noted for its steep gradients, is it?

The steepest parts, Highley and Eardington Banks have ruling gradients of 1 in 100, although eardington halt itself is 1 in 200, meaning the actual steepest gradient might be closer to 1 in 90.
Normally, 46443 pulls 6 coaches, though it has had 8 on it once or twice.

Bury to Heywood has gradients of up to 1 in 80 IIRC, not including the ski-jump which is steeper

Just an idea, but the loco is into the final part of it's current 'ticket' so perhaps it's being nursed along slightly - hence the desire to limit the loadings.
