Looks as if there has been some real late changes to this one.Instead of steam from Newcastle via Leeds to Lincoln and return it is now York via Doncaster to Lincoln and return.Anyone know why this has been changed so much at such a late date?

O.K.That maybe the case for the GN from Leeds to Doncaster which was after all the more interesting bit,but it dosen't account for the reduced mileage of looseing the Newcastle to York and return bit.Its a poor effort on what was originally advertised and changed at the last minuate to boot.

I see what you mean about the Newcastle to York section. I thought my mate was getting poor value Wakefield to Lincoln at £79. Is it not running from Newcastle at all or a box from there to York. I'll take a look at RTC site and see. Just looked nothing on RTC site, steam info has the tour box hauled from Newcastle. Why is the loco turning at Lincoln now going up as far as Barnetby ? over crowding at Lincoln with 2 tours same day ?

Wow! This means two A4s in Lincoln, departing in different directions within 5 minutes of each other! And 60007 again on Sunday!

If that is right, then it is a pretty poor effort on RYTC part.

Its been advertised up here with traction they cannot provide (70000, why advertise when it is not ready), and now they want to attach 60019 at york, and prevent the running from Ncle to York, mostly at some sort of speed.

Are they going to refund the passengers from newcastle for the lack of steam, would not think so.

We get very few trips departing from newcastle as it is, without this sort of poor management and late changes.

And before anybody says 60019 is at York at the moment, 60007 managed to get to Heaton 2 days before hand, and do itself plenty of favours running to KX on saturday.

Apparently, only one of the two reception sidings at Barnetby can be used at the moment. That could make things interesting, as 3 charter sets are due in there at the same time! Even with both in use, it won't be enough.

Latest local news says the Lincoln Christmas Market has been cancelled due to the very heavy snow we've had over the past few days. Lincoln has been hit hard. Will no doubt mean all these charters will end up being cancelled...

BBC News 24 has also just reported the Lincoln Christmas market cancelled. I guess if you are booked on a special to Lincoln, as they say "check with your operator"....

I would think it safer to phone them than rely on the web site.

They've actually put a note on there saying they are both operating as normal, which was posted today.

Pathfinder, Statesman and SRPS tours cancelled - apparently the Police are saying local residents only in the town centre.

As I have pointed out elsewhere, under which emergency powers and on what grounds are the Police banning non-residents from the town centfre of Lincoln?

They can and probably should advise against travel but not sure that they can actually issue a ban - and I bet the shops of Lincoln might have something to say about it! Perhaps they should threaten to sue then "the authorities" will have a dilema.

Of course, the council could have tried clearing pavements etc. properly if that was why it has cancelled the market, or be honest that it is the justifiable concern that many people won't have the sense not to risk the roads getting there that prompted the decision.

You have to wonder how they're going to police that.

Its quite easy to see why the fayre was cancelled. Have you not noticed the 1 in 0.5 hill leading to the marketplace!!!???

Easy to break your ankle in June never mind a foot of snow with people pushing past. If it was on the flat I imagine it may have gone ahead.

Just been on Calendar news the market has been cancelled and showed the last of stall holders removing their stuff. Police rep interviewed said it had advised council because of.the state of the streets in surrounding area. Advice was also given by fire service and ambulance service.
First time in 28 years it has not gone ahead.
    Regards,
    John
