It won't have escaped your notice that we are busy discussing the Tour Of The Year, but why not have a photo of the year?
The rules should be quite simple............
    1. It's your own work.
    2. You have posted it on Nat Pres in this calendar year.
    3. One entry per member.
    4.Mainline or Preserved line.
Maybe a mod could set a closing date and then set up a poll for us all to vote on.

The prize........a swollen ego for the winner.:)

After last years poll on Mainline loco of the decade which ran to about six pages of discussion about what constitutes a decade then I got the nominations wrong it may be a good idea for another mod to run this...

...Umm, I think we may need to look at the list of multiple ID's again...

Whats second prize? A night at the Carnforth Hilton...?

January 1st 2010 to December 31 2010 shouldn't be too difficult for people to get their heads round.:confused1:

Further note on this, there will be two classes, professional and amateur, so that the snappers like myself will have a chance....

Linked shots should be acceptable, because some people upload to photo sites and then link to Nat Pres immediately.
Just so long as it's their own work and it has appeared on Nat Pres in the calendar year.

So how do we nominate photos Kevin? Is the idea to propose your own snaps or those of others?

I suggest that in the first instance each user can submit one photo each into the thread with a closing date of ......

THe links or postings can then be collated and a poll opened ?

Not sure what my best photo is but at the moment I'm going with this one, also in the amateur category, 70013 on the Bath and Bristol, 6th March

By professional, are you referring to those photographers who make a living out of railway photography? Are there any on here? I would've thought we were pretty much all amateurs?

I think it's a bit arbitrary, but we all know those who regularly post high quality images, have their own websites etc, and on the other hand those who don't consider themselves as photographers, don't post often, only have cheap gear etc.

I for one don't travel any distance in search of a photo - if something's passing within 5 miles of home I'll turn out if nothing else is happening, otherwise it's just down to occasional visits to heritage lines. I don't possess a tripod and my camera cost £150.

I'd see the likes of Swiss Toni and many others, inc Ralph W (despite his protestations to the contrary) as 'professionals' compared to myself.

I'm with you in terms of equipment, and I'll add the rubbish phrase it's not the gear you have, it's how you use it. So here is an amatuer attempt. View attachment 1961
