Beattock on Friday interesting, I think not, I'm on a business trip on a Transpennine service to Glasgow. Thence to Edinburgh for the Saturday run home.

That would a bit different, during the Bowring excursions a couple of years ago there was a jazz group making it's way through the stock but Motley Crew? or should that be Crewe.. :behindsofa: Ok I'll get me coat....

Could anyone travelling please send in some updates via the Railtours live system? It is free to send in updates except the normal cost of a text by your service provider. I will log into it and post them up here on the Thurs-Friday when possible. Link here for anyone unfamiliar with it:-

Being a NE resident I miss the chance to enjoy these trips, indeed most steam runs. I hope all you travellers enjoy your quick passage through our countryside. I will be poised just north of Morpeth with my thick his-vis coat on to catch you flying past on Thursday. Then hopefully in Newcastle and/or Hexham area on the Friday for some different scenery background. If you haven't done the Ncle-Carlisle before you will enjoy it, I am sure. These 20 minute stops are going to be fun to watch but 1 hour at Tweedmouth on Friday morning? Are they coaling it as well?
    Have a good trip all!

Thats quite true, however we do have SNG to london on 27.11.10, with the added bonus of bittern on the return to York.
You are right its a bit of a desert up here, with many pass throughs, hopefully somebody may wake up to the Newcastle, Carlisle, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle loop in a day soon. Tornado may prove to be the routefinder in this case.

Having looked at the times for her run to Euston on saturday, I notice there are no lengthy stops to enable coaling. there is a 50 min stop at Preston but I fail to see where she can be coaled at preston without snagging the overheads. Is Tornado actually capable of running from the full journey without being coaled?

Maybe carry the extra coal required in support coach, thats while its so long, just putting enough in the tender to get home.
Could be done through the footplate to prevent problems with overheads. Just a thought....

maybe, but judging by the amount of coal put onto Bitterns tender at York on saturday for the return to london, it would take a lot of sacks
