Great shot Stuart given the conditions this evening!

I really don't understand why all your calls are been sent to voicemail. Nobody else's calls are, very strange. Simon

That's easy - had to use ISO1000 for the Fellsman the previous day and that was at the brightest spots.

Also a grateful thanks to James and staff for their input - especially when they so often suffer criticisms from those armchair experts who "know better" but rarely rise to the occasion to do owt except open another can of lager. I must commend them for their patience and understanding that some of are seriously interested and like to understand their problems and solutions if only to pass on sound info to others who are interested.

Many thanks fron this appreciative linesider.

Last nights trip on the Castleford loop (Leeds Avoider as I call it) was great. Driver David Blair and 46115 took us up the difficult spur between the two stations at Wakefield making it look easy. After a gentle start out of the station we then made a terrific climb up to Ardsley with noise aplenty and the engine accelerating up the 1 in 100 all the way. Well done to the two young firemen on the engine it was a barnstroming performance. A friend who travels on every trip said it was the best climb on the bank he had witnessed.

Many thanks for that info. The missus and I are visiting York in the first week of September and I would like another ride on the SSE but really didn't want the prospect of "Hogwarts Castle" pulling the train. So 44871 would be great, but a little gutted it's not 46115 as I've never seen it before and was really hoping it would be either doing the SSE or on the Waverley on the Sunday before we leave York to come back home on the 5th Sept.

Had a cracking day out from Wakefield to Scarborough today. The train was well filled I heard 396 mentioned at York on the way out as passenger numbers. The return from Scarborough is worth a mention. What a beast Scots Guardsman is ! We accelerated vigourusly to reach 48 at Seamer and still going !
A brake application came some short time after for a signal stop.
The acceleration and ear splitting noise from the front end was a joy to hear! waves of cinders like little missiles rained down as I peaked out the window.
Shortly before Malton a hiss was heard from the left side which grew louder as we made our way to the water stop just before York. The hose was connected at the water stop and the fitters attended to the leak.
We were about 4 mins late arriving at York but the leak had stopped.
When we left the train at Kirkgate I spoke to the fitter. The left side piston rod packing had blown out. It was replaced with a spare and we on our way magic !
Thankyou to the Crews and West Coast Railways for a great day out !

    Brian

I don't know why I bother lol... The slighest cloud appears at Sherburn this evening and the train was slowing, only for the cloud to disappear after the train... Get to Colton for my sunset shot and cloud appears there too, only for the train to be signal checked again, you go when its dark, black clouds and it goes romping past... Never mind. Enjoy ya trip on it tomorrow.
