RTC's next DCE is showing on uksteam.info as:
    60019 (/30777): Victoria-Southampton-Weymouth
    30777 (/60019): Weymouth-Southampton-Waterloo
I believe 30777 remains at Yeovil Junction, after last Wednesday's DCE, so let's hope that 60019's 'problem' [exhaust injector?] is now sorted so it can run down to Weymouth.

Is there any updates on this tour, will 60019 do the outward leg and will 30777 follow on to bring it back
or is it already at Yeovil?

I was told yesterday that the injector problem has been rectified and that subject to its FTR today 60019 will be on this train. 60019 from Victoria to Weymouth, 30777 back. 60019 to bank out of Weymouth and then proceed to Yeovil Junction.

"Off Forum" it has been suggested to me that if 60019 is now fit to join the roster there is a possiblity that the two locos will swap each week. i.e 30777 will work back this week after 60019 works down, then 30777 works down next week while 60019 works back?

If there is secure stabling at Yeovil Jctn and the support crews etc can work to that, then I can see some sense in that.

Bill, does that indeed mean that, subject to FTRs etc next week, 30777 will work the down run and 60019 the return on 4th August ?

As I understand the idea behind the Dorset Coast Express it was always intended to be a two steam loco operation - that is one to Weymouth and a second one back from Weymouth with the additional attraction of a steam banker (the down loco) as far as Wareham. The down loco then goes onto Yeovil Steam centre to stable and be turned etc ready for the following weeks trip. It was originally intended to be a pool of locos but at moment there are only the two available - Sir Lamiel and Bittern - they may be possibly be joined by 44932 which I understand has come south for the Cathedrals Express in Kent on Thursday.

Hopefully we will be ok for two locos for rest of the summer now! DH

Yes, that's right - the orginal "pool" of locos was supposed to be 30777, 34067, 70000 and 70013. Of these only 30777 is currently available. I would question whether 44932 is available for these trips as it is due to work a Cathedrals Express for the next three Thursdays and then on 18th August, Weymouth Carnival Day there is a Cathedrals Express to Weymouth as well as a Dorset Coast Express and I would suspect it will be needed for that.

Reported 10 late away from Weymouth. I presume 777 is leading, since no message to the contrary.

30777 top of Parkstone bank at 1738 in some considerable style and plenty of noise - safety valves lfted as soon as the regulator was eased for Branskome - very nice! DH

Upwey 16:51. As you suggest, 30777 leading, 60019 banking.

    Thanks to SAGinn. <BJ>

Persumed they dropped the banker at Dorchester, as It was banking up past Bincombe, and swift drive into Weymouth to get chips & pub but found Bittern coupled to support coach before we could even park! *Cue Twilightzone Music*
