Not heavy snow! I would guess that a box behind the "copper top" will be to help up hill etc if fire risk could otherwise see the tour cancelled.

Strangely, as a 100% steam only man, I could cope better with the box marshalled like that in the train, than if it was lurking at the back!

Not quite sure why though, so don't ask me!

Still can't come to terms with 5029 being allowed into Victoria though. Sammy Gingell will turn in his grave. (wink)

I saw some times earlier on one of the gen groups - Wilts and Avon I saw it on - assume it is on other groups as well - am sure will end up on UKsteam soon. Interestingly enough I understand that this tour like many others with steam finishes other than at Victoria, this one at Clapham Junction, due to limitations on clearances nearer to the buffer stops at Victoria which with an ex GW engine will be an issue, but the country end obviously has wider clearances!

Have you rewritten the English dictionary? What's that word rain? Never heard of it.

In the good old days it was normally because the diesel had failed and the old reliable steam loco was called upon to rescue it. Still feel that way in the present day even though it's not true. Old thoughts die hard.

Anyone know what the diesel is? A green 47 inside would look OK. I know the maroon West Coast 37 is around as it was shadowing the return Riviera on Monday from Didcot.

37706 (I think) worked Carnforth - Southall today. I assume 37516 is still down south after Monday's tour, so would imagine one of them will be tucked inside.

How much work is the box going to do though? Hope it is not like the recent VT 6201 trip farce, still yet to be fully explained. Certainly will ruin the Sapperton accent whatever happens.

From what I saw of the local weather forecast, it seemed we in Gloucestershire may be blessed with rain in the morning.
Then again how often do they get it right :)

OK guys, today is the day that xx29 will be seen on SR metals.

Now us Yetis are very sensitive creatures. Easily scared. So could I ask that if anyone takes a photo of this loco while it is still on the SR, (are there such people?), could it only be posted here via a link, or a very small thumbnail at largest.

We don't want a panic stricken Yeti running amok in the Maidstone area do we!

I'd assume that the reason 706 went south is because 516 is not dual braked? Unless 47245 is at Southall (i believe its at Carnforth?) then i imagine it will be 5029+37706+Load 12?

    Cheers,
    Mark

Just seen 5029 coming out of Sonning Cutting the Class 37 was dead at the time so lets hope it stays that way.
Seemed to be about 5/6 mins late looking at the times at Reading !

Cl 37 has been assisting from most starts, but sounding dead for the majority of the time once on the move. However the crew and staff did say at Victoria that it must assist in Sapperton.

Train mgr also said that unless there is significant rainfall, this is likely to be the
    practise for future steam tours.

Why do people keep using foreign words like rain, don't know what it means.

Maybe Nunney Castle should have been renumbered 35029 and carried ELLERMAN LINES plates while it was standing in for a broken Bulleid.
