what a great sight to see both tornado and mallard. does anyone know if mallard is being rebuilt to its orginal spec and be able to operate under its own power?

Many thanks to all who have posted photos and video to allow those of us who could not witness this spectacle in person to at least share in the event.

By the way I like your idea at York, using the station to mask the oil can on the back.

Unless there's been a change of plan, its moving to Shildon for display - not overhaul. With so many mainline A4's, thats likely to remain the case.

Somebody had opened the gates and there were about 10 -15 cars parked within the line side boundary, hundreds of people as you quite rightly can see and police at the gate not stopping anybody going in...

That's a super bit of film, apart from me in it... As for the lineside folks, BTP knew and didn't come out, and even when they do come, hundreds disregard them. BTP say "well, we've asked them to move, they haven't, what more can we do given the numbers of them?". I'd not have their job!

Well, as has been posted, there's a path down there - official or not, I don't know, although there seemed to be several folk on bicycles using it... However, the gate was open and folk were there from before 1700, to my knowledge. Regarding a police presence, I only saw one officer & he was more concerned with the road over the bridge, once the train was safely inside Locomotion's gate, & folk started dispersing. No sign, to me anyway, of a police presence before 1700 either.
