Pete Waterman has just been on 5 Live to talk about Eurovision. But the last question he was asked was....'When will Royal Scot be ready?'
His reply was that she is at Crewe where a number of problems have been resolved and she should be seen in the summer.
So there you have it straight from the horses mouth.

Just heard Pete Waterman on Radio 5 Live, talking mainly about music, but he did respond to a listener's question about 46100 by saying the "..the problems are now resolved..."
    So thats hopeful.

    Edit: great minds, saltydog,,,!!

Somebody told me that it was having a loaded test run today. And then I remembered what day it is.

Yes, there is a piece about it on Page 36 of the latest SR. It has been moved to the front of the repair queue with a possible date of September for a main line run.

I thought that all the problems had been sorted out now? or did PW mean the funding , at this rate the boiler ticket is going to be some two to three years old before it undertakes its maiden main line test runs , is this a record? i cant think of any engine that has taken the best part of 18 months from being said to be ready to run to actually running its mainline test

IIRC Pitchford Hall was over 12 months into it's ticket before it's mainline test (although that could of been between the test and first run - cant remember exactly which!).

60007 was just about three years into its ticket before getting mainline derrogation this last time. Something which to many minds actually benfitted the engine as it was well run in on the NYMR before it was tested on the mainline

well 34046 Braunton got its boiler ticket 2 years ago i think, then she had the trouble with her driving wheels, and now its just waiting for her new tender. But she has been running this weekend and today she pulled an 11 choach train. Would have been billiant to hear her up washford bank.

It hasn't weathered very well, has it? I guess 6100 needs to earn a few pennies before new paint can be afforded...

I think the photo makes it look worse than it actually is. It was taken on a dull day by the looks of it so the exposure settings on the camera would shift the colour and saturation enough to make it look like this. The shade of crimson was 'interesting' when applied fresh after overhaul anyway - but standing in the elements isn't going to make it any better!

ah yes but according to many on here the colour of the paint doesn't matter . As long as it's steaming is all that does

Ah yes - I forgot about that. Conversely does this mean that when it's not steaming then the colour DOES matter? ;-)
