It ran a freight in October 2008, but other than that its usually limited because of its speed limiter (15mph) becuase it tends to waddle!

All Outside cylinder Hudswells do it Swanage seemed to cope with it fine years ago, Embsay did ok with 140. Its sound like the classic it never carried a BR crest so its no good syndrome!!

I just thought I would let you know that Nunlow has now been confirmed for the gala, according to our Traffic Manager. I mention this in particular as she seems to have developed quite a fan base on this forum!!!

Not all locos will be in use on the Friday so no doubt more details nearer the time. I suggest keeping an eye on the KWVR website events page around the end of January either for details of timetables / loco rosters or details of how to obtain them (yet to be decided, I think).

The Traffic Manager confirms seven locos for the gala: GNR 1744, WD 90733, Standard Tank 80002, Ivatt 41241, Jinty 47279, LYR 957, Nunlow.

Usual mix of freights, locals, stopping passenger, express passenger.

Timetables have been wrote, and are currently been checked and checked again.
Plenty of branch line trains this time, 3 and 4 coach suburban trains, as well as the usual 5 and 6 coach ones too.
Express trains, some interesting combinations of engines, freights and a pcikup on the friday as requested.
Nunlow also does a full line run!!!! :)

Looks like a trip over the pennies in Feb then to sample some Hudswell Clarke action.

"A" passenger train, theres 3 and a shuttle to Ingrow in front of it (assuming everything stays the same)

Due to Nunlow's popularity sending it on 3 coaches seemed stupid so its a double header on 5, 1704 and 1744, anyone confused yet.
    Lets hope things dont change!

Me for starters. Surely the popularity behind Nunlow is for an industrial working hard - pairing it with an ex-BR loco capable of taking 5 coaches up the branch regardless of Nunlow's involvement removes this element entirely?

Why not put it on the 'top' end of a top'n'tail move? This way the other engine can sit at the back only helping when required whilst everyone 'enjoys' Nunlow? Just a thought

Excellent. I only needed one, but it's nice to have a choice!

One reason why I don't attend many galas is the running of pointless doubleheaders. Yes I know Galas are meant to be fun but fun can still be had without daft pairings of locos. I for one would be more than happy to experience Nunlow solo on full chat.

i quite agree, nunlow solo with a decent load would've been a good run, it walked up the banks load 3 last time, so it should be fine with at least 4! pairing it with the n2 wont please industrial fans who wont get to hear nunlow worked properly or those who like main line locos and will presumably be limited to 15mph as per the discussions about nunlow's ride quality!
